busycoupe Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I love to see the old machines run! A couple of years ago my wife and I and another couple visited the "Wheels Through Time" motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley, NC. The owner, Dale Walksler has well over 100 old American motorcycles, Harley, Indian, Pope, Excellsior, etc. Very near all of them run. While we were there he started a 1917 Harley for us, and rode a 1940 Crocker around the museum indoors! It is a fascinating place, even the wives enjoyed it. Dave Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 My Grandfather rode a Harley from Kentucky to Indianapolis (over 200 miles) to watch the 1911 Indy 500. Quote
Oldguy48 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 For those who might be interested in old bikes, there's a motorcycle museum in NE Pennsylvania. www.billscustomcycles.com/ Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I was watching the tv show "American Pickers" a couple nights ago. They ran onto some fellow (I don't recall what town) who still runs a motor cycle shop. He has many boxes of old cycle, including Harley, parts from the 40s and 50s.....n o s stuff. They bought a few things, but there was a lot more. Would be a fine source for needed parts if one could locate him. Quote
