oldcarlover Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 I have a 1950 flattie in my 36 ply. My thermostat housing is the tall type with a straight-up outlet to my 36 radiator. I am trying to find the correct stat to fit. Quote
Andydodge Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 My understanding is that all thermostats to suit the mopar sidevalve 6 have the same physical size, just different temperature ratings, so any from any 23/25" engine should fit............andyd Quote

In early to mid-1930s the deluxe models typically had an external bypass while the standard did not. He also mentioned that he has a 1950 engine and I don't know if that used an external or internal bypass. A photo would settle it pretty quickly. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Andy there are different ones depending on if you have the stamped steel housing or the cast iron version. I believe from his description that the original poster has a cast one which is a napa thm 55 160° or thm155 180° Quote
Andydodge Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Ed, thanks for the info, tho I thought the actual physical size of the thermostats would have been the same.....andyd Quote
