greg g Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 There was some discussion a while back regarding these lace on covers for the ball and trunion U joints. Anybody remember where they came from?? Quote
TodFitch Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Roberts list the rubber ones on their web site. Both Bernbaum and Mitchell list the leather ones. I ended up getting the fancier ones with an internal grease retainer and metal tabs for closure rather than lacing. If I recall correctly, I got mine from Mitchell. http://www.ply33.com/Parts/group16#16-03-01 Quote

PatrickG Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 the link posted only lists covers up through 1948, any idea if the trunion joints are the same for a 1950? the rubber covers for mine are toast, after 0 miles Quote
TodFitch Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 the link posted only lists covers up through 1948, any idea if the trunion joints are the same for a 1950? the rubber covers for mine are toast, after 0 miles The link is to my web site and I only have parts books to 1948. Bermbaum's web site says 1933-56. Don't know if that is true or not but I strongly suspect your universals are the same as the earlier ones. I ruined several rubber boots trying to get them on. And after I was done the ones I got on failed while sitting in the garage waiting for me to install the drive shaft. Just like you zero miles. So far, the leather ones have been better than that as I have between 2500 and 3000 miles on them. Quote
PatrickG Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Ahhh I wasn't paying attention when I visited that link, and assumed it was the seller's listing. Will try out the mitchell ones I think... Quote
