Cpt.Fred Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 the coupe has a nice patina, too! the 2 together will be an awesome couple:) just added a spotlight to my wishlist. the compass looks cool on the center post, i guess that's were they originally belonged? about lowering: i took a ride yesterday and visited a friend, together we disussed lifting the gas tank into the trunk about 2". this will prevent damage and i gain a little more ground clearance when my rear springs will be done. i'll have to build new down pipes as well to prevent scraping... i can't wait to begin! this thread gives me a lot of ideas. i did a little research and found the manual for restoring the hull compasses. it's really great! they use lamp oil. look here: http://1945gpw.com/c-74-G503_WWII_Jeep_Hull_Streamline_Bakelite_Compass_Restore.aspx Quote
greg g Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 At the show I attended Sat, there was a lowered 49 coupe sitting nose up on a fairly substantial grass covered hill. When he tried to leave, he could not go forward due to lack of traction. So he backed up promptly jamming his tail pipes into the soft ground, bending both, and ripping off both hangers in the process. So be carefull how low you go. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 that's a classic... a "cool" looking car can make you look pretty uncool pretty fast. but i am willing to take that risk to a certain amount. i am thinking about a different exit point for the pipes to avoid trouble with the pipes going over the axle under the lowered body. a friend of mine lets them exit under the running boards, another one directly behind the front wheels. we'll see... i'll deal with that when i'm there. mackster Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 Mack......I think those compasses look good on the center post.......Just use one of the screws already there. I am sold on the look! I think I will move mine as soon as i get my prism viewer...im setting up for when i find my sun visor..notice how i said.."WHEN" I am gona get it! Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Mackster, Captain, Cool looking skirts & fog lights - I vote for you to wear all those period accessories. I have the same taste for 40's-50's add ons: I have found me so far a Fulton sun visor, Unity fog lights w. yellow lenses, curb feelers, Unity spot light, tail light w. blue dot, chrome visors for head lights, beauty rings on wheel rims and fender skirts. Unfortunately the skirts are of glass fiber... when I bought them I thought it would be as good as steel ones, but the fit is no good, also surface is kind on bumpy, looks like poorly mended with lots of bondo (thus it calls more bondo...) I just received original Foxcraft skirts for my Nash and I am astonished of the quality. I will consider buying a set of steel repros by Agape Auto Parts for the Dodge. Cpt.Fred Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 hey uncle pekka, i already admired your new toy in the other thread... some of those nash bodies are one of a kind, and i really like them! i really try to cut some of the typical "bomb" stuff, i don't care for overloaded cars (in the trim and accessory area that is), but some of this stuff is just too cool! best from berlin, fred Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Mackster, Fred, Speaking about period accessories - Check out this site: http://www.wirthscustomauto.com/exterior.html Reg Evans posted this link at my other thread and the more I surf there the more I get inspired. Would we have a chevy or ford, there are nice metal skirts at very reasonable prices. Actually all the items are priced customer friendly... Quote

Cpt.Fred Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Hi all, just had to resurrect this thread, because mr. mailman brought my spot lights today! I didn't want dummies since i hate stuff that doesn't work, so i bought real ones. Does anyone here have photos of them installed on a P10 or P15? Would be nice to see some pics first before i drill a hole in that a-pillar in a wrong angle:eek: uncle-pekka, one of the spots says "nash" on it, wanna trade? greetings from snow pile berlin, fred Quote
greg g Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Take a look at Norm'scoupe member page. I believe he had the instructions for mounting spots from an old Unity instruction sheet on his website. If the lik to his site is still there and working you might find what you are looking for. I know he had the Fulti installation instructios and I think the spot lamps also. Quote

I saw some instructions somewhere that indicate you use the template furnished to locate the outside bracket on your windshield post. Then, once it is secured with screws, use it as a drilling guide....to get the correct angle. The hole and handle should come thru about right here....... Single spot on this car...... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Here's another P15 with single spot...... Not a Unity either. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) thanks a lot, that helps! i didn't find anything about spots on norm's website, but the pics should answer it all. sadly i got 2 different spots, the one saying NASH on top is indeed a "unity" model. the other one says "PERFECTION Sealed Beam Model S75" and something about "Bridgeport Conn. USA" and, hard to read, "**SCO Products Co."... anyone got a model like this for trade? will post pics later on. thanks for the tips! and 48mando, thanks for your offer! i can't wait for spring to try my new toys! hope the engine stuff will be ready by then... fred edit: pics are found here: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?p=228445#post228445 Edited December 15, 2010 by Cpt.Fred Quote
busycoupe Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 I can't help with a spotlight or parts, but I'm sure that your second light was made by CASCO. Connecticut Auto Supply Company, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Dave Quote
