Hello everyone. I picked up a 47 plymouth 2 door sedan. Its missing a few things, and has been sitting for along time with nothing done to it. The first thing I have done, and the only thing so far is clean it out and see what I really have to work with. I know alot with disagree with my plans, but in the end Im the one building it and I'm the one enjoying it with my family and friends. I do plan on trying to get the flat head running, and then pull it and swap it with a 360, a 727 trans, and a 8 3/4 rear out of a fury. One reason for the swap is, more than likely I wont be able to get the car to run efficiently with out buying a bunch of hard to find parts. I would rather sell a potential running motor, than scrap it, and if someone could use it more than me, more power to them. Im not going to go out of my way to do a original restore for this either. I understand how some like that, but thats not my cup of tea. In the end Im the one driving it.

That old flathead looks not so bad, and is complete looking.

Parts are no problem for this car, or it's drive line, making a hot rod is up to you, but plenty of us have flatties and old drive trains with no issues, and nothing like the sound of an old Lhead Mopar 6 cruising along.

With and overdrive trans or a modern rear end bolted to the flattie, your car can sail down the freeway nicely too, these old engines are brutes, and designed for hard work.......Fred

Crazietj,

You have come to the right place. We are the largest Mad House Forum out there - loaded with all kinds of crazies.

We are cut from the same cloth. This Plymouth you have bought is nice and

complete. Anything or way you want to go with it is fine with us - its your car.

But just as a side note, that car could come full circle as is, its pretty damned intact. So here is wishing you all the patience, luck, and energy you need to accomplish your goals.

Hello c-tj, glad you finally made it here.

Your car looks good in some ways, and of course, needs

work in many ways. So you have plenty to do for a while.

Good luck with the repairs.

As a result of your experience, I think the password has been

expanded to include other variations of the spelling of "flathead".

Glad I was able to make a contribution to the board....lol

And thank you for the welcomes. As for the engine. I know alot of you want it to be the flathead. If I can get it to run, it will most likely be that, but if I cant, I have a running 360 sitting here. It cheaper than rebuilding the flathead.

It looks like you have a Great Car to start with. I rebuilt mine about 25yrs ago and put a 53Ply overdrive in and have driven it up and down the coast of California. I still love to drive it! It sure would look good in the dark Blue with wide whites with hubcaps and trim rings.

Good luck and Enjoy!
