Cpt.Fred Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 ...VS. the big bad shoebox...! had a fun time on last weekends hotrod race! car ran like a dream (a slow dream, but still a nice one, hehehe) behold: had to share;) best, fred Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Looks like fun Fred. So, were you ahead of the Ford at the finish line? What was your top speed at end of the quarter mile. I think mine was 57......back in 2005 at the HAMB Drags. Quote
moose Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Looked to me like Fred won. Good for you, putting a "newer" Ford in it's place! Quote
greg g Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Nice hole shot, did you prevail???? Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Great stuff, From the looks of the other videos on youtube it's looking like the Germans know more about having fun with these cars then we do. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 people told me i won, both times. first run i'm sure of, but the second one was closer. i should not stay in first gear too long. unfortunately, i cannot shift second and third anymore, i guess i shot my (totally worn out) rear engine mounts on the way home. tomorrow will tell. i have spares on the shelf. i have to get ready for next weekend, there's another dirt race just a hundred miles away... last race for this year, i guess. bob, it was just an 1/8 mile and i didn't really bother to look, but if i should have to guess i'd say around 40 or a little above:D ...she's a slow boat. slow and thirsty, just like me. 1947PLEVY Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I was over in Germany from 77-80. I remember the drag races at Fleigerhorst Kaserne, right outside of Erlanger I believe..Over in the Hanau area.. We also raced VW's in a few neighboring towns..Budigen, Frieberg, and a few other places that I can't remember right now..(not sure of the spelling of the towns names)...I had a blast back then...OHHH Those were the days!! Greenbomb Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 It may be "slow", but all you gotta be is just a touch faster than the guy next to ya! That looks like a complete kick in the pants! Quote
40plyrod Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Thanks for posting, it's neat to see what's going on in other parts of the world. Look like you guys have it the way it supposed to be... just plain and simple fun. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted September 9, 2010 Author Report Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) glad you all like it! here are a few more mopars that are around on these events: P15, 218 l-head with dual carbs and exhaust, doesn't look like much but is quite fast... P15 club coupe, 350/350 combo, sadly the guy changed the original blue paint to a strange US army outfit which looks terrible in combination with the blue interiour... and he threw away the 218:eek: P10 coupe with a Poly V8 and rollcage, quite nice i think but i hate radials... and a 29 ford roadster with a HEMI in it, really tearing up the track! a great, solid build, the guy drives the wheels off of it, several thousand miles every year! plus he holds the speed record on the A-Bombers' devil's peak hill climb in sweden enjoy: Edited September 9, 2010 by Cpt.Fred Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted September 9, 2010 Author Report Posted September 9, 2010 and a few more nice pics of my rusty old boat: love the clouds on this one: Quote
