I found several books at local library on fixing/restoring cars that had chapters on interior/headliners. In the end I still didn't trust myself and paid a pro $300 to install for me. I'm glad I did although the expense hurt. Everytime I drive the car I love that headliner. Did everything else myself with ease. Good luck.

Its just not that hard. Theres no magic involved.

Put all the supprt rods in the headliner and start at one end putting the rods in their holes. You can see where it will needs pulling forward or backwards by how tight it is between the rods. Center the fabric on the rods as you go along putting the rods up. After all the rods are up and you ha pulled the fabric to center it, you will see how it attaches along the edges.

Again, start at one end an work both sides alternately until you reach the other end. Do not trim any excess material until you are satisfied with the tautness and alignment of the material.

It's just a case of "on the job training". You CAN do it. It aint rocket science.

I installed the headline on my 39 desoto with the help of the guy that painted my car.

First unfold the unit from the box so you can determine the front and rear parts of the liner. Let it sit our to get the wrinkles and folds to decrease.

There should be headliner bows determine the porper order for the bows. Before puting inthe bows check for any need repairs and then also prime and repaint them. Insert them inthe proper slots inthe headliner and then attach the bows into the roof. On the side of the roof there shoudl be some metal that would have teeth like a saw you need to tuck the meterial into these. Start at the back and work foward tying to keep the material as tight as possible. You should have two people to work the material in to the hooks. use a flat bladed putty knife that has a dull edge or blut end. Take you time do not rush the job when you get frustrated then stop and come back to the job work slowly.

I will be ordering my headliner from EZ Boy this fall, and will also install my own.

I am not 100% sure what I will be sticking to the ceiling first fora sound deadener/insulation, thing EZ Cool.

I am looking forward to this job, and subsequent finished look and sound reduction..................fred

Thanks for all of the replies guys, A gentleman I know that is an "old schooler" was saying that I might have to take out the front and rear glass. is that true with the old dodges?

No need to remove the glass-just the window mouldings.
