David Strieb Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Some of the old timers from the other forum know the story of this car, for everyone else this is a '36 Chrysler C7 Business Coupe. My dad bought this in 1957 and was a daily driver (with several rebuilds) until the early 80's, when the transmission and front suspension was reworked. In the mid 90's, some idiot ran him off the road during a high speed passing manuveer on a two lane road. Dad wasn't hurt, but the Chrysler was banged up pretty good. The front grille and fenders were damaged, the mascot was broken, and the body and rear fenders were scratched and dented. Dad took the car apart, then became ill and passed on. It sat for 6 years, then I put it back together at my mother's request, then ended up buying it from her 2 years ago. I put it in a body shop and got it back last July, just got it back together 2 weeks ago. Runs great, big block chrysler 6, overdrive trans. As near as I can figure, it now has around 475,000 miles on it. I think I'll hang on to it. David Strieb Quote
RobertKB Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 David, welcome back and congratulations on a job well done. The car is absolutely gorgeous and well worth all the effort. Love the colour! Quote
greg g Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Your Dad was right, it's a keeper. Great lines, hope it gets to 1 million miles. Great memorial to your father. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Daivd, That car looks fantastic, you must hold on to it. There are some things that have no price tag. I have watched your progress and I am very glad to see the car finished. Enjoy it this spring and summer and for heavens sakes if one of those modern era idiots wants to pass you please pull over and let em go. I do it all the time! Good luck. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Looks good, David. Glad you can now drive and enjoy it. Quote
Brendan D25 Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Looking good David, hope you enjoy many more miles and smiles with the Chrysler. Quote
David Strieb Posted March 6, 2007 Author Report Posted March 6, 2007 Thanks for the input. I've got several road trips planned, one is to southeastern oregon for my uncle's 80th birthday. He sold this car to my dad in '57 for ninety bucks. David Strieb Quote
Brendan D25 Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 David, make sure you tell him, with repairs and inflation, he can't have it for any less than $180. Keep us posted because I for one love to hear the stories about things like this. I think it will make his day to get a ride in her. Cheers, Brendan. Quote
52B3B108 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Very, very nice car. You'll be able to keep it in the family for a long time now that it's fixed up. It makes them harder to part with then. Quote
