Any other pictures. Old girl looks a little tired that is for sure. Lots of surface rust but I wonder if it has some major rot issues elsewhere. Is it near Toronto or Victoria?

From the owner:

"The car is really being sold for parts or someone who has good knowledge on how to restore a vintage car. There are no holes and frame and more is in tact and decent considering it is a 58 year old car!

I've attached more photos and if you're interested the car is in North York and you can see it.

I do have other interest though so let me know either way.

Thanks,

Nick"

Guys, what's the mystery? Isn't the P24 the American Dodge with the bigger body shared with DeSoto and Chrysler, and the P25 the Canadian Dodge that shares the Plymouth body? Special grille to fit the profile of the plymouth; plypouth-type dash, etc.

Tim is right. It is a Plymouth in Dodge trim as are all D25's. Look at the name plate in the centre of the dash and the horn button. Both say Dodge like it does on the dash in my D25. I always think of my car as a Dodge, not a Plymouth.

All Canadian Dodges are Plymouth bodied.... they have plymouth bodies with Dodge trim. You'll also find the "special deluxe" moniker on the sides, and a "plymouth" radiator. The reason why this is so is because of the border and the problems with shipping parts, as well as the small market in Canada as compared to the states. My 50 is a plymouth bodied car, but it is a dodge. The model number is D36, but its got a plymouth radio in it, a plymouth body on it and the 1950 dodge grill, lights, etc..... As mentioned by donald, it will have the bigger 25" engine in it which was what the desotos and chryslers used.

Tim, check my profile and you will see another one like it, but in a little better shape.

Steve, this is the second time for that car on ebay, there were no bidders first time. Looks like the potmetal grille is shot on it.Brendan.

I have heard that D24s were available in Canada as well. I remember hearing from someone who had a D24 and said it had a Dodge Division of Canada assembly plate on it.

According to an article in the Plymouth Bulletin #151 (Apr 85)...

"Revised 1942 models met an eager car buying public in 1946. Again the Canadian Dodge was really a Plymouth with Dodge trim. One noticable exception was seen on the trunk mounted brake light. The Canadian Dodge D-25 had the same rounded triangular-shaped bezel as the Plymouth P-15, but of course it could not use the Mayflower symbol moulded into the lens. Instead, the lens was plain and "Dodge" replaced "Plymouth" on the bottom chrome piece. The "big" D-24 Dodges this year got new front fenders that swept back into the doors. The D-25 Canadian Dodge retained the Plymouth P-15 fender configuration that ended ahead of the doors. Thus, for this period, the two Canadian-sold Dodges were quite distinctively different when viewed from the side.

The new 1949 model Canadian Dodge D-32 continued the time-honored tradition of mating Dodge grilles and trim to Plymouth bodies"

Hope this explains it a little better.
