Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Our first stop in the Dells was the automotion car show. We met up with a few POC and forum members. Merle and I planned to meet up but the rest were a surprise. We heard from some of the guys Claybill planned to come but was maybe going to be there sunday instead. First Merle Ken Bartz and I in front of Ken's 40 plymouth And now Merle Macgyver and I in front of Merles truck Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Heres a few other interesting cars from the show. The only other p15 appeared to be a rod A stude for Greg G My personal favorite Not a fan of the car but I liked his hood prop Rest of the car pictures here http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v172/dodgepu1946/our%20wedding/honeymoon/automotion/?start=0 Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 First stop after the car show. Dells mining. Was quite fun we "found" some nice rocks. Basically they stash unfinished rocks in dirt and let you mine for them. We're having this rock turned into jewelry. Doesn't look like much but its actually march's birthstone and Carmon has a march birthday. So 6 weeks after our trip this will show up as two 1/2 carat aquamarine earings. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 We played mini golf a few times Went on a WWII duck ride Bought some treats many places Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Stopped at a lot of antique places. Saw this sign on the wall in a few of them but this one had the best display of it Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 On the way to Door country we side tripped to the Jelly Belly factory and company store in Pleasant Prarie WI. Thought of Norm as we drove through Milwaukee Here's Ronald Reagan made of Jelly beans. Apparently his love of Jelly beans and discovery of jelly bellys is largly responsible for their success today Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Once in Door County found this fun car at a gift shop. After talking to the owner she took our picture in the car! Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Went to the Hands on Art Studio We made a tile mosaic picture frame for the little girl who was supposed to be flower girl in the wedding but wasn't able to make the trip from NC. Then we went to the metal shop and I cut our last name out of steel with a plasma cutter. Never used one before it was quite fun! Quote
55 Fargo Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Great Pics Ed, looks like you and Carmon had a great time..... Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Some more Door County sights. First a swedish( I think it was) restaurant with a grass roof and goats on it to keep the grass mowed Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Some old car sightings Fire station with 2 old trucks in it. I took pictures through the windows but they didnt come out too well Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Few scenic shots of the plymouth Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 And the giant chair in front of our motel. Here's the link to the rest also http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v172/dodgepu1946/our%20wedding/honeymoon/?start=all Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Oh and the finished projects from the art studio Read the pink tiles to see who the frame is for Quote
Edward Roberts Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 What a great trip and great photos. I do believe, though, that the Jelly Bean art is a portrait of George Herbert Walker Bush. Don't really know why they would use Jelly Beans as they were definitely attached to Reagan. I think H.W.'s favorite snack was Pork Rinds - which would be a pretty gross medium for art. Thanks for sharing! Quote
John Reddie Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Real nice photos Ed. Thanks for posting. Is the red car a Chrysler or a DeSoto? John R Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 You've got me second guessing myself but I believe 61 Chyrsler. There was no asking price it said make offer new brakes. There were no seats in it and the grill was in the interior. Very solid floors etc. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I'm going out on a limb here but I think the little grilles on the rear are a New Yorker trim item.. Quote
John Reddie Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 It sure looks like this '61 Chrysler in the photo. The red one would be really nice restored to original I think. John R. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Trim is different so its not a new yorker. I bet that little badge under the front door handle says newport. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I still stick to the new yorker..look close and you will see the front grill section is missing off that rear fender..these grilles were still mounted on the Chryslers through the late 80's Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Tim look at the very front edge of the fender. The blue one says new yorker. The red one has a crown on the door. Also the trim on the side is totally different. The red one comes down onto the side while the blue one stays up on top of the fender Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 I did not even look at the other trim..was looking at the little "gills"s stuck on the side...I had always seen these on new yorkers...that was the trim I was referring to...told you up front I was out on a limb... Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 Tim Tim Tim how many times have we told you to look at the big picture Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 I almost answered the red car question by pointing out that was a 80's pimp mobile Camaro....then I saw the big Mopar...9 times out of 10 I do not see any of the pictures till late evening any body want a set of these gills to install on thier customized ride?
