BobT-47P15 Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Here's a link to a site where they're selling some neat old cars found in Mena, AR. Has pictures. Just thought some would enjoy the sights..... http://bringatrailer.com/2010/05/10/unbelievable-arkansas-barn-find-clean-out/ Quote
RobertKB Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Wow!! There are some truly beautiful, expensive, and coveted cars there. Why would anyone let such treasures deteriorate. At least they will be going to new owners who will restore or preserve them. For some reason, I love the T&C sedans. That would be my choice if I had recently won the lottery. Quote
james curl Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) I had a friend, now dead, who was born and raised in Arkansas as was his father. His father worked for Chrysler in a factory, I believe, in the Ozarks of Arkansas building woody bodies. He retired after they closed the plant down. He built the last woody body in that plant for Chrysler. Mena is in the lower portion of the Ozarks almost on the Oklahoma border. Fall is beautiful there when all the trees turn. The people up there milled their own lumber and built their own homes using Hickory for studs and joists, Walnut for flooring. My friend Howard used to go home to Arkansas to see his folks and always bring back a pick up load of green hardwood planks to dry. He had a fantastic wood working shop and learned the wood working trade from his Dad, wood working was his hobby as he worked for Big Blue "IBM", which stands for I been Moved down here. Robert Horne Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 That is one great collection. I just brought home a 1949 Dodge 4 door, looks like a 48 type. It was in NC being driven around the guys property 11 years. Dirty and sun baked, but solid............. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 Donald Rook in Mena owned those cars for many years. Bob Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 I guess he finally decided to sell. And from the article I take it there are more vehicles there, maybe not as nice as the first ones. Quote

1940plymouth Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 In one of the photos, isn't there a 1960's Chrysler in the background? I would have been interesting to see photos of that car also Quote
