BobT-47P15 Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Went to the Spring Swap Meet in Kansas City put on by the Ararat Shrine club. Found a few assorted items at reasonable prices. Going to keep this genuine Mopar oil filter item as a what-not for shows. The only old Chrysler product for sale was this 53 Plymouth for $1200. One man had some 46-48 P15 rocker stainless trim. Some is NOS and some is good, and polished up. If interested, P M me and I can provide his name and phone number. Quote
55 Fargo Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Good find Bob, I see a few ignition switches, and a couple of headilight dimmer switches too..... Quote
RobertKB Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 That's a decent haul you found! That hubcap looks especially nice. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Did you happen to get a phone number off that Plymouth? Quote
Gary Manes Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Bob, That ignition switch, with what appears to be a cap coming from the bottom end, looks like the switch for a New Yorker. Right now I am using a switch from a Windsor which looks like the one on the right, but I have two New Yorker switches in the wings. I use to worry about ever finding the "center" bumper guard for the New Yorker at a price I could afford. Now I have a good one from a bumper swap I made with a Windsor I use to have and three spares, but each one of the spares has at least one tip broken off (which grabs the bumper from the bottom to hold them in place when you tighten them up). The one in your photo looks NOS. It seems like an endless battle, but it looks like you really hit pay-dirt this time!! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 11, 2010 Author Report Posted April 11, 2010 Gary, that cap on the rear of the ignition switch was apparently on all Plymouths when new. I have found one or two still in place - but most were removed and tossed when the owner added some item of wiring to the switch. It just covers the shorter connectors and leaves the longest one sticking out....I think that's the one to which additional items would be attached. The hubcap turned out to be a 9 incher, used on the Deluxe models. Going to add it to my collection of 4 or 5 other 9s just in case I ever want to use them. Also have a set of 10 inchers for the Special Deluxe. The bumper guard is standard front P15.....in fairly good condition, but has a couple smallish scratches. Will probably end up on the 49 coupe eventually as those are fairly well dinged up. Found that guard towards the end of the day as we were leaving the swap - the seller jokingly said "why don't you just buy all this stuff so I won't have to take it home?" When I found the guard amongst some other ones, he first said he wanted $1 for it......then said, "aw, heck, just take it with you, no charge." I thanked him, of course. Just goes to show you, ya never know. Some of those other things may be needed on the coupe, as we haven't really tested all the systems. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 Niel......to answer your question.....sorry, I did not get any phone # for that blue 53. Just saw it in passing, but didn't take time to go over and get that. It had "cop" wheels with the later model "dog dish" hub caps. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 I would have had a hard time walking away from that little Plymouth. Maybe its better this way. Thanks anyway. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Man that sounded like a way better swap meet than the one I hit in Sauget IL on Sunday. All I saw was a 1939 Runs, a rusted hub cap like you scored and chrome pine cones. So congrats on the treasures you got. Do you come up to the big swap meet at the amphitheater, its called Verizon wireless amphitheater now and was called Riverport, just outside of St. Louis the last weekend of April? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 I hadn't heard about that meet.........so never been there. Last weekend in April....I have to play music in Arkansas on that Saturday night. Probably can't get there. Darn. Maybe get it on next year's calendar in advance. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 at the last two swap meets I have noticed a remarble jump in price and availability (probably due to the price) of bolt on upper shock mounts from donor vehicles like the early F series Ford truck and the early Dodge pickups...seems the average price is about 75.00 asking..for those who may or may not have upgrades of brakes and such in the future..if you out and about in the wrecking yards..I recommend you snag these babies if possible.. Kustom52Mopar Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Ya I was wrong when I said it was at the amphitheater, they moved it a a year ago to Gateway like Bob posted info about. Wow I don't know where my head was when I typed that one. Wishful thinking I guess, the parking is alot further away from the treasures. Quote
