T120 Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 ...I don't know if this is a car belongs to a forum member - http://www.oldcarsweekly.com/article/1948_Plymouth_Super_DeLuxe/ Quote
steveplym Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Very nice article. Thanks for sharing. Car looks very familiar, but who knows. Seems like I saw it on ebay last year, but maybe not. Quote
Troganin Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Wow that is a really nice looking car. No pitting at all on the chrome; must be nice. Mine isn't painted but I think I like the ship background red. It makes it stand out. Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Last year I drove Carol in my P-15 to see a WWII reinactment in Troy, Ohio that featured a Sherman tank. I had head that the 5 engine configuration had driven the tanks. I saw the tank and learned that many configurations had been tried and used. I got to see Sherman manuver and fire several blank charges toward the crowd. Carol took movies. I have yet to learn how to post them. When I got back to my car there was a note on the windshield from Nick Essinger introducicng himself and asking about my ride. We waited and and Nick eventually saw use and came over a chin wag. I invited him to join the forum and have since seen him at several cruise ins. If he is still a member here maybe he will chime in now. I see he is well connected enough to get published and I have that as one of my goals in my bucket list. Congratulations Nick. Neighbor down the road, Frank Quote
RobertKB Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Nice car and nice press for our old Plymouths. Thanks for sharing. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) Reminds me of David Maxwell's car............ IF you notice, the headline of the article called it a "Super Deluxe", which I think was a Ford model name. However, in the article it was called a Special Deluxe. It would seem they need some one with knowledge to proofread. Edited March 21, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
TJM70's_48 Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 My car was originally the crusier maroon...sure looks sharp on that one. Great interior pix too...a useful reference. Only thing it makes me think is how far I have to go with our car... Quote
T120 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 ...Nice colour, one of my favorites from the post war era Quote
Mark D Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Accidently found this POC article while surfing their list back issues this past week. Nick's got a great car and an easy to read writing style. I even went so far as to email Nick, offer these comments and say hello. We've started a little parlay of emails, and he's offered his many years of advice if needed. My car and Nick's are almost twins with the exception that his is in mint condition and mine is in near original condition. But as the saying goes, "it's only original once." Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 I haven't found the Plymouth item yet, but there was another item about this Dodge coupe. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 IF it's this one......it looks a lot like the one of David Maxwell. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 (edited) Great example of an original interior. This link may go more directly to the article.....at least it did for me.......http://www.oldcarsweekly.com/article/1948_Plymouth_Special_DeLuxe/ Edited March 20, 2011 by BobT-47P15 Quote
Mark D Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Got a phone call yesterday from Nick Essinger himself! Nicks a young at heart 70 year old AF veteran that loves his cars. Had a great conversation with him and he certainly has seen a lot in his lifetime. He gave me quite a few pointers (I'm still quite a virgin when it comes to P15's) and we've agreed to keep a channel open for questions anytime I need a hand. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Great........another Plymouth success story. Quote
