PatrickG Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 and its a purdy one too if I do say so myself :D but man it was stressful the first time closing that hood while watching everywhere it could rub or scratch on the way down! The body work was done with the hood on to maintain all the gaps but unfortunately without the hinges bolted in. Now that they are on, I have it set on the driver side to a good gap, but on the other with it adjusted up and forward as far as it will go, it just barely clears without rubbing, So looks like the hood will have to come back off so I can drill myself a little more mounting space to get the gap right Quote
1940plymouth Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Very nice job, those headlights remind me of the late '40's Lincolns. Keep us posted, Bob Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Nice, Patrick. Yes, it's rather nerve-wracking with new paint. I have some chips where my hood doesn't do just right. So, your plan should probably solve such things. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Looks GREAT!! Too bad you cant see the art work on the firewall with the hood on and closed. Maybe you should think about molding a clear lexan hood Quote
Barabbas Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Very, very Nice! I really like the Frenched headlights and the clean loo Do you have any "before" pics? Quote

Greenbomb Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 That really looks good!! Maybe you better lay in a good supply of Rolaids before you adjust that hood. I shudder thinking about it! Quote
Olddaddy Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Really well done! I have always loved the lines on these cars and the work you've done on yours sets them off nicely. It gives me hope for my 50 Suburban. It's finally in paint after three years. Quote

Sweet I've always liked the Plymouth suburbans. and its a good feeling to have a car going to paint, that means all the taking apart is done and behind you, and you can look forward to putting all the pieces back together Quote
Niel Hoback Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 That really is pretty good looking. I wish I had the talent to do that kind of work. You made a sharp looking little car there. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Patrick look what I found on the tube Sounds GREAT!! Quote
blueskies Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 Looks great... I had a hellava time getting my hood to fit right, and it still is off some. At some point I called it good enough. I added a bunch more rubber bumpers too, to keep it from rubbing. Pete Quote
mackster Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 looks awesome! very subtle and clean. I love it! congrats... Quote
PatrickG Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Thanks everyone, Looks great... I had a hellava time getting my hood to fit right, and it still is off some. At some point I called it good enough. I added a bunch more rubber bumpers too, to keep it from rubbing. Pete and Pete, mine will likely end up the same as yours, just as close as is worth it for how much effort it takes. I'm sure they never fit perfectly even from the factory, couple that with the fact that these Plymouth hoods are the flimsiest pieces of c*** with out any bracing, ect. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 very nice job choosing the colors! very nice and smooth. congratulations and have fun with it! Quote
dezeldoc Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Patrick, who's kit did you use for the headlights? Quote
Fireball Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 I like it a lot! yeah, what kit did you use for frenching? Quote
dezeldoc Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 It looks like this kit. http://www.thenightprowlers.com/NP-Headlights%20&%20Spots.htm Quote
PatrickG Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 (edited) similar to the night prowlers one, maybe even exactly the same... http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Headlight-Frenching-Kit,9149.html although I think back when I bought the kit they were the same price. They came out pretty nice, but not perfect, just little things, like the mounting holes for the stainless drilled just off enough to be an annoyance. and the tri-bar headlights didn't quite fit at first, I had to cut a wider hole in the bucket so they would sit deep enough. **i just noticed they do mention that in the product description though Edited March 20, 2010 by PatrickG Quote
