Yes,but they may need to be tighter. Run the engine and you will see when warm they will tighten more. You can also cut a notch in a old socket to fit over the thumb screw and use it to snug it down.

A 11/16" six point socket fits the thumb screws just right to tighten them.

The only way oil accumulates behind the valve lifter covers is if the weep holes below the tappets that lead to the oil pan are plugged. There should be no need to wrench these thumscrews unless the weep holes are plugged assuming the gaskets are not torn.

You for sure do't want to tighten them enough to deform them. then they will leak for sure.

Get old and you will need to use the socket to get em tight enough!

Guys, Got the ole 201 back together and she's runnin' sweet.:) I got it up to temp and re-torqued the head bolts. Took her out for a run and it doesn't miss a beat. WOOHOOOOO!! I gotta pull the right front tire off so I can put the lower inner panel back on and that's it. Thanks for all the tips and help from everybody. Jim Yergen

Tim, and countless others. It sure felt good to cruise in my baby again.

Thanks again, Tom BTW.... I bought some original big trim rings on E-bay and installed 'em. Don't look half bad.

Cool enjoy the Flaorida Spring! Do you ever go to a cruise in at a Pizza joint by the airport?????
There's a place called Doubles Hoagies that people go on Wednesday nights. That might be what you're talking about.
