ssdodge51 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I was looking for some info on replacing the shackles and at least on the Dodge Pilothouse "knowledge", the photos that are in the parts book don't include the rear shackle photos on a 1/2 ton unless I just don't know what I am looking at. Before I start replacing them I wanted to figure out how they come out? Anybody have good photos or something that shows the part removal/install process? thanks Quote
41/53dodges Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 i used jeep CJ-3 shackles, they are about 1" shorter, but they still work correctly. that, and they're about 1/2 the price. Quote
Dave72dt Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Check the video collection. i believe there was one made that showed the removal process although I can hardly believe they came out as easily as shown. Quote

Fernando Mendes Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 48dodger,thanks to share the two videos.I liked very much the explanations.I ask to you if you agree that in rear shackles two upper(frame) are right hand threaded, driver side lower(eye) is left hand and passenger side lower(eye) is right hand threaded.Ask too how is the correct in front shackle.I didn't find nothing about these subject in Dodge PH manuals. Fernando Mendes Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 It's the same on the jeep and Dodges that have open C shackles, I think. The front, left, lower bush / thread is left hand, and so is the right, rear, lower one. Basically they are diagonally opposite on the jeep or truck. You can use the standard bush on jeep or Dodge, but a Dodge C shackle is about 1/4" taller when in place, so you can use Dodge shackles on a jeep, but not the other way round. Gordon_M from "G503.COM" site of Jeep WILLYS MB/GPW(Ford) forum answered me. Quote
