aero3113 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Anyone have a source for this gasket? I noticed my pump was leaking slightly by the glass bowl so I replaced the dried up cracking gasket with one from a new spare pump that I have. Now I need a gasket for the spare pump. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I might have one I can send you. If not, you might be able to make one out of a sheet of cork gasket material. I'll check my garage tomorrow. Quote
aero3113 Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 I was thinking about calling Carter to see if they can send me some. Quote
aero3113 Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 LoL, all the times I have been on Rock Autos site I never noticed that gasket:D Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Try Napa. Fel-Pro 773 1 5/8" I.D. X 2 1/8" O.D. Or Fel-Pro 12473 1" I.D. X 1 5/16" O.D. Merle Quote
Young Ed Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I think that second one with the 4 slots in it is for the fuel filters that go up at the carb Quote
captden29 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 how about the cork gasket at the base of the distributor? one side is beveled. anyone know where to get one of those? dennis Quote
aero3113 Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 I didnt know there was one at the base of the distributor. I have noticed some oil seeping out of there recently. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I just checked my spare fuel pump parts. Turns out I don't have the cork gasket. Sorry. Now I seem to remember that I tore it when taking the pump apart. Quote
aero3113 Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 No problem Joe, now I know they are available. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 A rubber o-ring from the plumbing dept. at the hardware store will work perfectly. Quote
aero3113 Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 Neil, for the fuel pump bowl or the distributor? Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Under the distributor. A fat one of the right diameter. Quote
aero3113 Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 I have a nice assorted set of rubber o-rings, when I get a chance I will see if I have one that will fit. Quote
captden29 Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Neil, thanks for the tip about the o ring for the distributor. sounds so logical but i never would have thought of it. you just have to think outside the box sometimes. dennis Quote
