Reg Evans Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) Guys, I want to sell these sandblasted and turned drums that came off of a 47 1/2 ton I use to own. I sold the truck and have the feeling that they might be the same for other years too besides the 41-47's. The only number I can find cast on the drum is # 31267 and don't have any parts books on hand at the moment. They are 10" x 2". They have all new races press into the drums and new inner and outer bearing cones and oil seals. Lots of $$$.$$ invested here to just let them sit. Especially since nobody wants me to build them a house any more:( Anybody know the interchangeability. Maybe even car too ???? Thanks for any help you can offer. Dodgeb4ya Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Well Reg, Here is what I found out of the Hollander up to 1946. Think 47 is the same. Reg Evans Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 Thank you Bob ! I really appreciate you taking the time to look them up! I thought they would fit more than just the 39-47 trucks. I think I'll try these for fit on my 52 1/2 ton and my 49 Plym suburban too. Question......on part of your list you say Ply 347-48 5 pass. Is that just a typo? Are coupe drums really different than sedans? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Just a typo Reg. I just took it as it was out of the Hollander. I would think any coupe or 4 door would have to be the same for a P15. Bob Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Reg, Now you got me looking into this more. I am not sure these drums fit a P15 at all. Here are the Mopar part#'s out of a 41-7 Dodge truck parts book showing front Drum and hub assembly's as Pt. #668583Rt./856970 as the left drum assembly. Now the P15 complete front hub and drum assembly are pt. #'s 1118836 Rt. and #1118837 is the left side. Looking deeper into the MoPar parts books it looks like these front dodge 1/2 ton truck drums are interchangable with plymouths 1937-39 and 1940-42. According to the master 1953 Mopar parts list the truck #668583 drum fits 1937-39 Plymouth-doesn't say which side. As for the truck #856970 left drum, it fits 1940-42 Plymouth. The #668583 is shown as for1937 DeSoto/Chrysler front drum-no side noted. So I don't know if Hollander is 100% correct! Maybe someone has some more on the vehicle knowledge. oldmopar Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) According to my Hollander they also show them using different spindles after 42 on the Plymouths. I did not check the plymouth parts manual but if the spindles are the same they may fit as long as you use the bearings from the truck which it looks like reg has Edited January 10, 2010 by oldmopar Quote
Young Ed Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Reg I would think they'd fit plymouths into the 50s. I've got early 50s car drums on the 46. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 11, 2010 Author Report Posted January 11, 2010 Thanks for your help Bob,Oldmopar and Ed. I appreciate it. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 OK, I tried these drums on my 49 Plymouth and my 52 1/2 ton truck. They are the same and fit perfectly. Amazing ! I think I'll try my 35 Dodge next. Quote
