p24-1953 Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 does the over drive transmission have provisions for a reverse light hook up and a neutral saftey switch? like the later 3 speeds do? Quote
Young Ed Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Should have a backup light switch. I'm unaware of any of the 3spds having a neutral safety switch. Quote

p24-1953 Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 Should have a backup light switch. I'm unaware of any of the 3spds having a neutral safety switch. do they have clutch saftey switch? what prevents them from starting in gear? Quote
Young Ed Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Only the inteligence of the operator in all the overdrive cars I've been in. The only clutch safety switch I know of in an OD is Pete Blueskies car and he added it himself. Your hydrive probably has a neutral safety switch as it is sort of an automatic Quote
B-Watson Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 No such thing as a neutral safety switch on a manual transmission back then. And the transmission on a Hy-Drive unit is a manual unit - nothing automatic about it. As for a back up light switch, it is not on the overdrive unit but on the transmission. It is set up to be engaged by placing the car in reverse. Bill Vancouver, BC Quote
p24-1953 Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 I am wonder if it is something as easy as switching out the gear housing so that i can install the factory saftey switch. with the toruqe convertor and no saftey switch this thing will start up and keep on going. trust me i know ask my badly damaged lawnmower and garage wall, from when i was rewiring the car and did not have the saftey installed. i hate to open up my new transmission though. Jim Saraceno Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 My book shows 12 of one screw (122007), 8 of another (120229) and 20 lock washers (138485). I think the 12 are standard bolts and the 8 are flange bolts. My guess would be the 8 go in the corners where that extra plate is. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I may be following this wrong myself but I think this was supposed to under the oil pan/bolts thread.. Quote
