DollyDodge Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Does anyone know where I can get the rubber hose that goes between the filler tube and the gas tank for my B-2. The local auto parts didn't have anything that large in diameter. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 if it is the same size as my fill tube, 2 1/4 inch, then Napa has that on the shelf in the back..you will have to ask for it..it is not listed per say for your appliation..it is 100 percent gasoline friendly.. Quote
grey beard Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 DollyD All the parts stores carry this stuff. Just make dead sure you get gasoline hose and not radiator hose - won't work. Only prollem' was, when I got mine, had to buy a full length - like twice the amount I needed, just to get the right stuff in the right diameter. Gave the other half to another guy on this forum. DollyDodge Posted December 16, 2009 Author Report Posted December 16, 2009 thanks, I will ask at the auto parts store again. Maybe the person helping me didn't know they had the hose. I do my shopping at our local CarQuest dealer. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I would not say all the car parts houses carry this...in my surrounding area, of Advance, O'Riely, Autozone and Napa...on the Napa carried it..more for the big trucks than actual fuel inlet hose for the older car...our Car Quest stores closed their doors long ago..hopefully your local will have it..as Napa is pretty proud of thier stuff at the cash register...and yes you may have a minimum length to purchase.. Warren Nielsen Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Got mine at NAPA. Ask at the counter and they should have some stashed in the back. Minimum length was a foot. Frustrating when you only need about 3 or 4 inches of the stuff. Pricey too. Very frustrating then. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 As I have a number of these cars and the fact also that the Dodge requires two sleeves, the minimum purchase was not a problem for me..and knowing it is correct fuel resistant hose compared to the green stripe stuff you see on e-bay..peace of mind.. DollyDodge Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 Thanks all. I will find out if CarQuest has it or not, and there are also Kragen, and Napa Stores stores locally. I just like our CarQuest dealer. He has been her well over 35 years and was once a independent auto parts dealer but had to get under the umbrella of a chain in order to stay in business. Quote
Jim Gaspard Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Should work if long enough. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1946-1948-1950-1952-1954-Plymouth-Dodge-DeSoto-Chrysler_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2ea5b257a5QQitemZ200348424101QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Quote

Even in the description they say it is coolant hose. It appears to be Gates Green Stripe hose. It is very good coolant hose, but it is not resistant to petroleum products, It'll swell up terribly when it comes in contact with gas. Merle Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 it not rated for fuel..I don't see how these guys get away with this ..anyway..I do not trust it, emergency repair only..I have seen this stuff in use...it seems to swell at the joint and it tends to display a bit of early signs of dry rot.. DollyDodge Posted December 21, 2009 Author Report Posted December 21, 2009 Hi all: I went to the auto parts store this morning and they are going to order me the correct hose, one that is made for fuel. The first salesman wanted to sell me the hose with the green strip and another guy said, no that isn't the correct material for rubber filler hose. So in any event, I have the correct hose ordered, it is suppose to be here tomorrow. They ordered 3 feet of the stuff and will cut me off what I need. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 sounds like a winner to me...persistance pays off..a knowledgable saleman is a plus also... Quote
