I previously had a wide radial tire on my spare rim in the trunk of PLYWOOD, which I had to place on the floor of the trunk because the tire was too wide to fit into the spare tire well. I went to a tire shop and they tried to put a 215 75R15 tire on the rim, but it was too wide to fit in the well, too. So, now I am still looking for an inexpensive spare tire that will fit into the well of the trunk. Any ideas, sources, etc? The tire shop people said they stopped making a 20575R15, which might have fir into the well.

Try a different brand, I have P205 75 R15s on my car and its a fight to get the tire between the opening for the well and the holder, once past that point the tire fits the well real good. I do not understand why everyone would stop making P205 75 R15 tires.

I believe the man is in error, the 205/75/15 is a very popular size tire and even with the switch for intermediates to go with 16/17 the smaller cars are also moving up in size for max fuel economy..this will continue to make these still quite popular...I expect to see them for some time yet down the road..Sears alone has 14 listed tires that size

I think Charlies tire shop was just handing him a line. You can buy 205 x 75's just about anywhere. Even the Firestone and Goodyear tire shops sell them. However, they may have to order them from a warehouse to get them, but they are available. Usually, the tire shop in question can have the tires in their shop the same day or next day from a central warehouse.

Jon, the used tire shops here in AZ don't speak english, or else I would just have my chauffeur drive me over to one and get a used tire. But, I am going to call around tomorrow to the different brands and get their information, including WalMart. It seemed odd to me that P205/75R15's weren't made any more. Thanks everybody. Now where is my Butler when I need him?

Okay, I found an Old Skool tire shop that speaks english here in AZ. The owner found me a used 205/70R15 for $25. It is shorter and wider than a 205/75R15. Does anyone have a 205/70R15 as a spare? I plan on Jeeves driving me over to the shop on Monday to have the tire fit to my red rim. Now, where is that Grey Poupon?

Well, I ended up with a 165/80R15 spare tire, new, that fits in the trunk wheel well nicely and I have the peace of mind of having a reliable spare; after only six years of owning PLYWOOD. In two weeks, I put on the grill mounted Christmas wreath and lots of red sparkly garland on the wood roof rack. Merry Christmas
