Plymouthy Adams Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 got my front pipe bent this evening..could not locate a 3" pipe in any junkyard, first 3.9 Magnums got the larger pipe, rest was 2.5 ..anyway..so to buy one for the Dakota and not sure how it may fit the wagon frame..200.00 and not wise...I got out the angle meter, Starrett angle guage, tape measure and pen and pad and figured out just the angles and lengths between bends that I needed and the drop at the rear past the tranny cross member so I can have a heat shield in place...went to the muffler shop and 15 minutes later walked out with the pipe bent to my exact specs...brought it home..fit like a glove..only drawback ws he can only swage 2 inch depth..I needed 2 1/4" so I had to whack off 1/4 on the header pipe..this be double wall pipe also, not the cheapo thin stuff..very pleased..I will let him make the tail pipe later...no way I am going to try and figure all the angles for the frame and axle hump... greg g Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 That cool, where you gonna put the mufflerator. Or you gonna run straight pipe??? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Greg, will be cutting a tad off the length of the tail piece and put the muffler there..it is an 18 inch Summit 3 inch turbo pancake..the hanger will hang from the shock cross support..then the final rear hanger will be in stock location...I will be looking for a nice stainless steel tip to extend beyond the bumper a bit when i go to the swap meet later this month.. Richie Hodge Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Looks good Tim, like I said before, a jack of all trades !! How about I bring the old Hudson down you can figure all the lengths and angles for a dual set-up. Just kidding, don't worry. As I remember "Big Butt" had a great exhaust system too !! Nice job. Richie. Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Tim; Not going to run a dual exhaust? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 28, 2009 Author Report Posted November 28, 2009 not on the wagon Don...I did not shift the tank to the center on this car...as 3 inch is factory for that engine..I feel it is more than adequate and with the turbo pancake..am hoping the sound will be be on the mellow side..
