P-12 Tommy Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) Hey guys, there's a new plastic hood ornament for '46 to'48 Plymouths on E-bay. Thought I'd share. I still gotta figure out how to copy and paste a link. Tom Edited November 10, 2009 by P-12 Tommy Quote
RobertKB Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 You already know because you said copy and paste. Hilite the URL and then copy. Go to your post and paste the URL. Done. If you want to add it to the post you already have, go to the post, click edit, and paste the URL. I looked for it but could not find it on ebay or I would have done it. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted November 10, 2009 Author Report Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) Got it!http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1941-48-Plymouth-NEW-hood-ornament-plastic-L-K_W0QQitemZ330375990303QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item4cebf18c1f Tom Edited November 10, 2009 by P-12 Tommy Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Another way to do it is. Hi-lite the URL address as Robert mentioned and click on copy. Then come back here, put your cursor in the message box, then hit "Ctrl V" on the keyboard. That will paste the address into the message box too. Quote

dezeldoc Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Yep he has had them for awhile but i have not seen one listed in awhile, most go for 125 or more. Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks for posting. I have been looking for one of those for a long time. I think I might set my sniper program to snag it in the last 3 seconds for $500 bucks. So if the rest of you want it you might have to out bid me. Now if another one comes up the seller will also expect five bills. Great to keep posting these auctions:rolleyes: Quote
michael.warshaw Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 i have a nos one which i am selling if anyone is interested, thanks mike w Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Looks like the next seller is loking for five bills already Quote
michael.warshaw Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 no ill be happy with 150 that i paid for it. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I paid $100 for my new one, but the guy said he was quitting making them. So one for $150 isn't so far out. Quote
michael.warshaw Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 mine is new old stock not a repro. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 mine is new old stock not a repro. Michael, Personally, I wouldn't pay the prices they ask for that piece of plastic. Something like that is really only worth about $30. It doesn't take much money to make one of those, and even less for the plastic material contained in it. But........if I were to buy one for those prices, I'd buy a new reproduction over an old NOS one that had never been used. That's because plastic parts, rubber parts and gaskets dry out over time, and have either shrunk or become more brittle during that time. Whereas the "new" reproduction is still fresh and still has the oil content in it. So........in the case of these parts, new is much better than old. Quote
dirty dan Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I'm always amazed at the prices they get for those and the dash knobs. Quote
Skrambler Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I also have a NOS piece. Gotta tell ya, it is as good, and as solid as the day it was made!(even though it is hollow) It is factory sealed in clear plastic, and never been touched, well maybe by the person that sealed it so many years ago...Has been kept under the correct conditions to keep it pristine.Someday I might even own a P-15 to put it on!!! BobT-47P15 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I've noticed that a lot of the repros now being offered are solid, not hollow like the one I bought. It might be interesting to see what a light placed under one of the solid ones would do. Does anybody have one of the solid ones with a light? Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 ...and it seems to light up pretty well just holding a light under it, but I should at least find a chrome hood ornament to mount it in for a better test and I have no idea how much difference there is in the light source from a 6 volt bulb.... so... I'd say this test was a little half-@$$ and unreliable. I try and set it up better this weekend. I've noticed that a lot of the repros now being offered are solid, not hollow likethe one I bought. Captain Neon Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I would have to say that the solid repros would be an improvement. I think they would be less likely to crack and even break. I will trust David's report that they light up just as well as the hollow ones. I've got two used spares in my garage, but could be convinced to get a new one if I ever break the one that is currently on my car. Quote
