BobT-47P15 Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 This old invoice was for sale on ebay at one time in the past. I saved a copy of it.....just found it in files. The items were installed on a 47 Plymouth two door. Quote
1940plymouth Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Bob, I wonder if the twenty five dollar sunvisor was an outside one. Seems like that amount of money would be rather steep in 1948 for an inside one Quote
Niel Hoback Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I wondered about that too. It seems the labor charges are about right for the time, but the parts prices are kind of steep. $100 for a radio? At any rate, those are very nice papers. I did save them, maybe blow them up and print them? Thanks for posting them. Quote
RobertKB Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Wouldn't you just love to be able to buy those items now at the prices shown. All new, shiny, and working. Quote
greg g Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 It's funny that in January of 48 these folks paid a 1400 base price for a 1947 vehicle. The price for my 46 Coupe was around 700.00 FOB in 46. Even stranger that when you consider in january of 1974, I had made a deal with the local AMC dealer for a 73 Hornet Demo with 2500 miles on it for 1750.00. This was on a 2659 price sticker car. It was a 2 door hatchback with the 258 2 bbl straight 6, with a 4 speed and 3.58 limited slip trans. Even had Ac and Am/FM radio. But we decided we couldn't afford the 52.00 buck a month and the higher insurance, so we bought a 71 Volvo 142S istead at 40 bucks a month. In case nobody remembers the hornet they were a pretty sharp looking car and the 6 was rated at 155 hp. With the 4 speed it was a pretty snappy ride. Quote
David Maxwell Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) Adjusted for inflation, that $100 radio was nearly $950 in today's money. For $950 you could get a pretty killer CD player that is MP3 compatible with 4 nice speakers installed! It's easy to see why so many people opted not to get one. steveplym Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Just looked at that Bob and that invoice is from Herrin, IL. A town just a few miles down the road from me. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to know where this car is now. Quote
