BobT-47P15 Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Sometimes cars for sale on ebay can be used as educational material.....to see what the original looked like. The sellers claim this car is totally original. Did not see anything that looked re-done. Someone else may say differently. For example, there was a recent discussion on kick panels. These appear to be correct originals. You can even enlarge the pictures over what ebay gives you by using the little 100% thing on the bottom right corner of your screen. (Darn, it even has one of those bug deflectors with a propellor....the gold colored item on the hood.....at least in some pics) (Also has the matching gold plastic headlite visors in some pics) So, here's a link to the ad:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-An-original-SURVIVOR-unbelievable-WOW_W0QQitemZ220500613819QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3356dc5abb#v4-36 Quote
RobertKB Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 (edited) Bob, thanks for posting that. It really makes you realize just how nice these cars were when new. As everyone knows, I love them stock, and this is a perfect example of why. That is one sweet car, way sweeter than any hotrod! I even have a factory radio, speaker, and cigarette lighter that would go in it. I would love to have it in my garage but cost and distance would prevent that. I also enjoy being married to my wife! 1955 plymouth Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 That sure is one sweet car, I'm sure he has the reserve set over 15k or something, I feel it would be worth that for sure, I just can't play at that kind of price tag. I'm the guy who sits back waiting for either the young guy who wants to sell a four door for under 5k because it's not cool for hot rodding, or get the real cheap total projects that will occupy the rest of my life. Rollie Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 That's a beautiful example. I wonder if that's a "transplant" from out west since there is virtually no rust. Quote
dezeldoc Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 The interior is way to nice for it to be original, unless it was kept in a temperature/humidity controlled garage it would have some stitches coming undone and show some kind of wear. but it is very nice, heck i would even let it sleep in my garage! AFTER I CUT THAT 6 OUT AND DROPPED A 440/727 IN IT!! just kidding Robert!! ( i knew that would make you jump) Quote

michael.warshaw Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 very nice it looks like it was redone. Quote
greg g Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Well there aren't 60,000 miles worth of wear on the pedals, but it looks like there is some primer showing through the paint on the tires. I can't believe that the bolts holding the trim clips onto the truck area would dhow no discoloration after 60 years. Although it is a beautiful car, it seems to good to be true. I'm thinking is an very well preserved older restoration. Like to see some pics of the underside. rear end seems to sit a bit higher than it should also. Wonder what wore the paint off the airfilter? Where it the robe cord on the back of the front seat? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 (edited) Robert, all you need to go with those items you pictured is this........ Edited October 26, 2009 by BobT-47P15 Quote
RobertKB Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Robert, all you need to go with those items you pictured is this........ Bob, I have one in my coupe but don't have a spare. The car the radio and lighter came from didn't have one either which was strange as it had every other option, including the hard to find temp control. I am always on the lookout for parts. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 I found an extra clock at a small swap meet 3 or 4 years ago. Not as nice as the one in the car......but good for a spare. It might end up in the coupe eventually. I have a couple extra radios with fairly good dial faces. Only one lighter though......came out of the parts coupe in Kansas. Quote
