Finished the bed of the truck. Used stainless hardware to replace the rusty stuff that was in there before.

Here's a couple pictures:

My daughter...she smiling because she still thinks she's getting the truck when she's old enough to drive.

You think yer gonna stop her????? Oh Daddy, (bat eyelashes) puulllllllleeeeeeeze! I'll be reaaaaaaallllllly careful, honest!!!! No I won't let____________ (insert wild eyed boyfriend's name here) drive it NO WAY!!!!

I know, I had one with the same look in her eyes.

She needs to put 10 hours in on the riding mower for every 5 minutes in the truck.

Like that will ever happen.

Looks good, are you going to use any metal slats between the wood boards? did Dodge do that like Chevy? Even left like it is it looks good. So it seems like we use these old trucks as motivation for our Daughters, haha this is the '59 Chevy we have promised to our Daughter when she gets her licence, not so sure though it has the 283 V8 with the 4 speed? well, we'll see we still have about 5-6 years before that day....

Dan,

Veey nice looking paint and body work . . . . . . AND very nice looking daughter. Used to have one like that myself, but she grew up, got married and now has three kids of her own. I predict you'll like the grandkids better'n the kids, if they're anything like mine.

What are yer plans for filling up the voids between boards? Yo understand that the strips made for this job do away with the necessity for drilling bolt holes in the boards, themselves - except for the two outboard ones?

Nice job. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Good Luck

Wasn't sure if this was "bring your daugther to the forum day"....but just in case...here's my daughter next to a 66 Ford truck I re-did for money. She hasn't posed next to one of my Dodges yet. But I'll get right on that! lol

Nice truck bed Dan. :D

My daughter wanted to buy the truck just as much as I did, so she was a big help in getting approval from the Finance Committee ( a committee of one ). Since she's my partner in the project, she'll learn to drive it in a couple years ( she's 12 now ).

I'm reusing the wood that was already in the truck ( just cleaned it up and restained it), so all the holes were already there. I threaded the holes that were already in the frame, so it's a lot easier to get it out now.

Once I get the truck road-worthy, I may replace the wood and get the metal strips so it looks like it did from the factory, but for now, cheap is beautiful.

Well I started somthing. My daughter in Kansas decided she was going to get married so I ( not thinking clearly) fixxed up an old 46 half ton chevy I had an gave it to her for her weddin. I didn't beat the dents out but it cleaned up real good with fresh paint. So then another daughter decides to get married an says dad I want a pickup. There goes my B-1-B fresh paint and all. Now i gotta fix up my dodge 46 half ton and a dodge B-3-C so I got somthing to go tomcattin in an go to the dump. lugnut

My kids are awesome...I can't imagine grandkids being more fun.

My oldest daughter is a freshman at Duke and doing very well. Also working as an intern in a lab that's doing stem cell research to help reduce the effects of Epilepsy...or something like that.

My youngest is in 7th Grade and doing great in school too. She can be a handful at times, but a blast to spend time with.

I'd gladly give either of them the keys to the truck. Now the 68 Camaro...that's a different story. They can have that when I move on to the next life.
