Robin (UK) Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Whilst searching Google for pictures of D24 convertibles, I came upon this ad for a D25 convertible in Jakarta. It's a rare, and good looking car. It was sold several years ago - does anyone know where it is now? http://www.collectorcarads.com/Dodge-Coupe-Convertible/15494# Quote
T120 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 ..I spotted this car in an article featuring a car show in Jakarta some time ago.It was on line and at the moment I don't recall the details. It appears to be the same car. Quote
RobertKB Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Thanks for posting. I have seen a few Plymouth P15 convertibles in Canada but I don't ever recall seeing a Dodge D25 convertible. Maybe it is time to cut the roof off my D25 Club coupe and go the convertible look. Whoops, forgot it is in final primer for paint. Quote
T120 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 ..A rare model to be sure.Having the steering on the right,I gather it would have been assembled in Australia.Hard to tell the colour from the photo. It almost looks to be the colour of your coupe,Robert. Quote
RobertKB Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Ralph, the colour my coupe was and soon will be again. Right now it is kind of a grey primer colour. Quote
T120 Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 ..Ha,ha.That's what I meant,Robert.I'm looking forward to seeing your car with the new paint. Quote
B-Watson Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 A D25 convertible would have been built in Detroit, although CKD units were shipped to various parts of the world. Both the Detroit and Windsor plants built RHD cars for export but the Canadian plant built only coupes, sedans and chassis. A total of 155 D25 Special DeLuxe convertibles were built at the Lynch Road plant in Detroit. Chrysler of Canada imported D25 woodie wagons in 1946-47, but no convertibles. If you wanted a Dodge convertible in Canada you had to buy an imported D24. They did import P15 woodies and convertibles. The Australian plant imported D25 chassis from Windsor and used bodies (sedans) built by T.J. Richards. Bill Vancouver, BC Quote
Frank Elder Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Chrysler of Canada imported D25 woodie wagons in 1946-47. Bill Vancouver, BC I have never seen a picture of a D25 Woodie, hell google won't even give me the barest information on a D25, I bet they are beautiful! Quote

Picture a 1946-48 Plymouth Special DeLuxe woodie wagon with a D25 grille, and you'll have it. Do not know how many were sold in Canada, but 386 were built in Detroit during the three year period.
