Mike,

Mine is from a '52 Dodge. You'll need to build a mount of some sort, and the easiest we to do that would be take a welder under the dash with you. You may not need to be that extreme but you can't use the original mounting bracket, and the motor will need to be off-set to one side or it will interfere with the cowl vent mechanism. The arms will need to be made special because a Dodge is about four inches wide than a Plymouth. I was never satisfied with the way I did it and eventually put the vacuum motor back in until I can do a better job. Alignment is also very important; I didn't have everything aligned as well as it needed to be and the ball ends would come apart whenever I turned it on.

I will eventually reinstall it closer to the glove box because there's more wiggle room on that side, but I may need to pull the dash to do it right. I'm planning on pulling the dash for painting anyway so that's not such a big issue with me, but it is a pain to do so you might want to spend some time looking at it and coming up with a better plan.

On the few occasions I used the electric motor it ran very smooth and reliably (except when the ball ends came loose) and I highly recommend it if you can come up with a good way of mounting it.

one of the first things you need to do is neasure the distance from the wiper posts on the Plymouth and compare to the Dodge donor..odds are the Dodge is a tad wider...then maybe not..I have these items but have never measured them myself..I usually do a different setup..

The 52 DeSoto wiper motor will also fit the P15. But.......if you also need the arms and switch that came with it for it to work. Then of course, you do have to make a bracket to mount it onto under the dash. Also, it will usually mean you have to remove the P15 radio or speaker to make it fit. I had one at one time, but......decided it wasn't worth the trouble since the vacuum wipers worked OK. So.........sold the whole DeSoto set up.

How well would an elec swap work if you got both the motor and the bracket? I saw a 46-48 chrysler with I believe elec wipers in the junkyard. The dash was gone so the wiper motor was ripe for plucking out

Ed, don't know about the 46-48 Chrysler motor. But........since that model Chrysler had the same basic dash, I would imagine it would fit OK. I'd grab that if you could. Would be worth the effort a money to try it anyway. But.........make sure you have the arms attached and the switch with it. Suppose you could use some other switch if necessary, but would be easier with the original one. The arms are a must though, unless you want to try and fabricate them.

I think the switch is gone since the dash it gone. Would have to find another one in the yard. I think there are plenty of them.
