kfxinsd007 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 :rolleyes:Well lets see - Gas fumes + Electrical Spark = Bad Day:( Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 28, 2009 Author Report Posted August 28, 2009 gas plus fumes in tank sealed with cap on and voltage running through the tand sender while a electrical contact scrapes over an exposed resistor wire...or even worse, fuel pump in tank with brushes no less..hernatically sealed, but for how long whould it short to the case... Jim Yergin Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 I have heard of such concerns but have never heard of it ever happening. Has anyone ever heard if these caps ever caused an explosion or fire. Isn't there electricity running to the sending unit in the gas tank? Is anyone afraid of a lose connection sparking at the sending unit and igniting gas fumes? Just wondering how real is the danger. Jim Yergin Quote
kfxinsd007 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 Gee Wiss Guys - take a joke. All that was ment by it was you have to imagine back in the day before it was put on the market that someone thought about the same thing in the old gear head designing rooms. I have not heard of any problems not to say they may have but look at the cars of today as stated in the earlier posts. Things sure have come a long ways over simple ideas. Have a great Weekend All Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 28, 2009 Author Report Posted August 28, 2009 No Don, the Pinto forum pertains to slight bumps lile a small gravel bouncing up, a twig with minimum o threee leaves..etc. Quote

Jim Yergin Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Do you remmeber the old joke? Definition of an automobile nightmare is being stopped at a traffic light with a Pinto in front of you and and Audi 5000 behind you. Jim Yergin Quote
