claybill Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) i have been putting together this 230 test motor (on a stand) for 6 months or so...tomorrow i try to start it. we will see. i know i have a few water leaks..but if it starts, i am in business.! at first i had an oil filter...i took it off and blocked off the in and out leads. I am not sure about the oil filter use...can they be taken off and put on at will? what is this 'plug' i hear about but never see..? bill Edited August 17, 2009 by claybill spelling Quote

Andydodge Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Bill looks great, really like the test stand, makes things much better to gain access to the valve lifter settings etc......she'll be fine.......andyd Quote
claybill Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 for the crankcase breather... i blocked off the hole with a freeze plug drilled a hole for a hose attachment and ran a tube with in-line pcv valve to the intake manifold. bill Quote
greg g Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Pull the coil wire and crank the starter till you see some oil pressure on the gauge, Mine pumped up to about 25 lbs after three short cranking sessions. Once the oil pressure showed I reconnected and fired it up. Quote
