adam_knox Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Hey gang, I know there's a website called the old car manual project, or something like that, that has scanned images of old ads and manuals. I sent them a few e-mails and never heard anything back. 49plymouth.com has an awesome supply of 49 plymouth related literature. The imperial club has an extensive archive of lit. Do we have a spot for us to organize and upload images and such? I have a few handy things other 49 chrysler owners could probably use (like the manual card for the in-dash clock), but there isn't a cohesive site for 49 chrysler owners as our numbers are smaller. I notice we often upload in specific threads, could we start a section of permanent threads, like: "literature?" then have categories like ads, mechanical, electrical, news articles: then break down each of those sections as they relate to Makes/Models/Years For example: Literature-->Ads-->1948 Plymouth P15 Literature-->Electrical--->1940-1948 Dodge and Plymouth Generator Schematics (so that post of schematics is designed for all D and P in that year range) Literature--->News articles--->1948 Chrysler Town & Country--> 7/15/09 WPC Article I don't know if something like this is set up on the site and I'm missing it, just thought it would be a low work load on admins and moderators, and would allow us to organize and post useful information that might be collecting grime in our garages... Sorry if this makes no sense, had a rough day and running on a few hours of sleep. :(Let me know what ya' think moderators and posters:) Quote
martybose Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 If you go to the top of the forum page you will find a link that says "Return to P15-D24.Com"; that is where most of our stuff is archived. Marty Quote
adam_knox Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 Yeah, I was browsing around there, and seems like some of the stuff hasn't been updated in awhile (not that I'm complaining!). And pretty much all of it is text based. I was thinking more of a place we could contribute scanned original adverts, articles, diagrams, manuals and such that could assist and serve as a library archive of all things 40's-Early 50's Mopar. Anyways, doesn't seem to be much interest. i know when to let an idea rest! Oh well:o Quote
Troganin Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 id gladly buy it from whomever had the rights if they produced it still and it was resonably priced. I would be very intrested in something of that nature if it was started. I dont really have any old resourses to share currently. Quote
dezeldoc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 we do tis on the old bike site i am on, guys scan and post up old catalogs and manuals and what not. we have never had any copyright issues so far. Quote
oldmopar Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 One thought for people with information to share. is the photo gallery perhaps a album or 2 could be created and items entered there. Also there is the links directory you could save the information on your web space and create links to it. On the pilot-house side there is a wealth of great information at deptca link http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/index.htm Quote
Guest P15-D24 Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 specifically the downloads and parts list page to make them more a self service section like the photo gallery and links page. That way readers can post and share at will. Trying to get all the data stuff stored in the main database as content management becomes much easier. If it is a picture or scanned doc, post it to the technical section of the photo gallery. Quote
adam_knox Posted July 21, 2009 Author Report Posted July 21, 2009 Great idea about the photo album, didn't think of that! Quote
randroid Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Gents, As a Novelist and publisher I've given a bit of thought to copyright laws and have come to the conclusion that nobody's going to complain if you promote their product and are not trying to earn any money from it. Even then, nobody wants the negative publicity associated with a law suit. I am in no way a legal authority on this; it stems from personal experience. -Randy (Going under the knife at Denver VA hospital Friday. Wish me luck that this time my legs are fixed to the point of being usable.) Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Sure do hope your surgury goes well..wishing you the best.. Quote
randroid Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Tim, Thanks. Had the same thing done last Winter but they're trying the least invasive methods first, and I'm glad for that. This time I'm not sure what they'll do, but hopefully they'll stop short of replacing the arteries, which would lay me up for months instead of days. The problem is that the arteries in my legs are blocked and what has everyone asking questions is that my cholesterol levels are, and always have been, just fine. Health food kills; go for the garbage! -Randy Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Randy; Growing old is a pain in the legs, stomach, heart, butt, skin, _____, (fill in the blank). Best of luck and I hope you "hit the ground running" (this term is mostly used by HR guys to say they hired a good candidate but most of the time they dont) after the surgery. Let us all know how it goes. Quote
