Young Ed Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Anyone know the name of the special fastners that hold the wiper motors together? Quote
Young Ed Posted July 5, 2009 Author Report Posted July 5, 2009 They are pretty little but hopefully one of these will do Quote
Young Ed Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 Its starting to look like I will have to continue to use a pliers on these suckers. I've spent a couple hours now googling and looking at various sites. I looked through all 914 screwdriver bits at eazypower.com. Looked at a bunch of screw types on mcmaster. Tried snap-ons website but its down for maintanence until tuesday. No luck on grainger or sk tools websites either. Quote

I guess one could make a tool specifically for it but it would be pushing my tool making abilities. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 From what I can tell in the pictures, they look like those sorta things they didn't want anybody to be able to remove themselves. Probably some special tool needed. Do you suppose Ficken would tell you what works if you emailed or called them? Looked in the parts manual, but that was no help. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 Bob thats kinda what I'm starting to believe. Its either some fastener type that trico made up themselves or its obsolete. I looked at harbor freights website but you can't tell from the pic. Will stop after work. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 Right I've had one apart before with just a pliers. I'm going to be doing some mixing and matching of a few of these motors for my truck. So I thought it would be nice to get the proper tool. Its looking like no one since trico in the 40s has had this tool though. Quote
aero3113 Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 you cant use a small ignition wrench on the flats? Quote
Young Ed Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 Maybe? They are quite small. The thread is I would guess a #4. Possibly a #6. Quote
