maurice wade Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I just had one of my front window glass cracked by gravel. I visited the local glass shop. The shop owner said he could install clear or green glass. I got to looking at the glass in the 47 p-15 to try and see if it had tint or if it is clear. The glass is all original in the car. It is difficult to tell if their is a shade of tint in the car. Does anyone know if the glass is clear or if their is a shade of tint to the glass? It would be nice to have tint, especially in the front glass. We did hold a piece of light green tented glass to the car, could not tell much difference. Any ideas as to what I need. I don't want to put something in the car that doe's not look original. I guess the glass comes out from the inside. Any advice or pointers on the instalation of the glass, doe's and dont's. 55 Fargo Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I have new tinted glass on my 47 Chrysler, would not want clear, the tint is great with glare.....Fred Quote
p10plymouth Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 My 40 has original glass. except...the vent windows and the frt windows where replaced with green tinted glass... NO ONE ever said a word about it very hard to tell (at least on my car) from the others...I would really think about replacing both Frt. windows with the green tint.. ,BIG difference you will never regret.. BobT-47P15 Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Ditto....on the clear glass. I guess tinted would be OK if you want it. Just would want to make all windows match, I would think. All is flat glass except for the rear window. I suppose a tinting film could be applied on that. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 tint glass for Plymouth arrived much later on the scene and goes by the name SOLEX however if you wish to install tint that is your option and according to the color legal..not sure why the light blue was removed from most cutters inventory but the light green, smoke and bronze was still available when I last looked and also bander border is yet available..I went with all green for the Suburban with temepred panes along the sides Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 thanks..what I thought but I was not going to quote off memory and I was not about to go into my papers to look..my club coupe does have the Solex glass as does the 54 Club Coupe...just knew it was much later than the P15..did good to remember the name Solex...I am a little bummed out that I did not order my Club Coupe glass in the blue tin before they quit carrying it..it will be Wedgewood Blue and the blue tint glass would have highlighted the car nicely.. Plymouthy Adams Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 Norn..it is all color dependent..on the Suburban I an going with mint green paint and I think it will compliment the car...on a dark color car be it blues, black, maroons etc..the smoke would be eye appealing.. Quote
