Dave;

Good to see your truck working as a truck should. However were it me I would have simply opened the tailgate and then let the wind do the unloading. This method works every time but as you can tell I am not as pickey where the load is unloaded as you apparently are:D

For norm

You should make a trailer, the muck is too dirty for the trucks bed. the truck's bed is for the beer cooler and the yardwork tools.

So much work so little cold beer to drink and the house wife has to big a to do list.

Grew up in a Mennonite home but the only German I learned was "Vy iz der'd zo meny mor oziz azzes den der'd iz orzez?

On another take, with so much manure there must be a pony!

Thought it had something to do with the mess in the truck. If that had been me, I would have had it delivered and my truck would have stayed nice and clean.

What's that you say, Norm? Old trucks should be retired?

Well, I could keep it at home and just drive it in and out of my driveway, but Don Coatney told me that you have a patent on that method.

Methinks I will enjoy my truck a whole lot this summer, with or without a payload in the bed. And by the bye, that stuff in my bed was dry mulch - no mess to clean up except with a dry broom for the dust.

This old Dodge is going to the Macungie, PA truck show this June - my all-time favorite show of the year. ATHS show with usually more than 500 trucks, lotsa' shade and fine comaraderie. Taking this truck to this show has been a long-time dream of mine. I plan on having more fun than old guys usually have.

What shows will your MoPar go to this summer, Norm?

Actually, now that I think of it, if your Battery Buddy cord is long enough, and your diveway is short enough, you might not even need to unplug. Now that might be a record worthy of Guinness, what!

On second thought, mebby keep the battery hooked up in the garage and use a really long pair of jumpers . . .

Gas tank in the garage, with a long hose . . .

No, I have it . . . a winch to let it out the driveway and reel lit back in. Wouldn't even need to start it up. Think of all the sludge that wouldn't form in your engine. What a savings . . . $$$!

Seriously, Norm, I really hope you have as much fun wirh your MoPar this summer as I will. Then we'll both be very happy. :)

I sure am glad my ride is finally a ride, and not a project tying up one bay, like it's been for the past three and a half years.

Dave,

Didn't mean that old trucks should be retired from driving. Just from hauling stuff that will mess it up. It seems a shame to go through all the trouble and expense of restoring an old car or truck just to haul stuff around. Granted hauling dirt, wood chips etc. is not going to scratch or dent the bed. But.......when you have to dig it out of the bed is when the scratches and dents happen. Even carrying around clean lumber etc., you could dent and scratch the bed up.

Even if I owned a brand new pickup I wouldn't do that unless I had a liner in the bed. If I wanted a truck to haul stuff, I'd buy an old junker truck to do it with so I wouldn't have to worry about messing up the bed, etc. in it.

Guess you'd have to know me like my first wife did. She would always be upset with me when getting in the car. Would complain because she said she had to wipe her feet to get in the car.:D My current wife has never said that. She keeps her car neater than mine. One speck of mud on the floor and it's off to the car wash.

In my van is an old blanket laying in the back and a tarp, both folded up. When I put something back there, I cover the carpet, even if the box is clean that I'm hauling. My van is 14 years old and it's seen a lot of old dirty, greasy parts picked up at swap meets, and stuff from the lumber yard etc, yet there is not a speck of grease on that carpet. The carpet still looks new back there.:) In my wife's car we have plastic sheeting for her to use when she goes to the garden center, etc. to pick up plants, etc.

My coupe does not go to shows because I don't do shows. It will be at various cruise ins and out for pleasure as it was Friday afternoon. Don just thinks it goes nowhere because I don't publicize it and carry a camera to take pictures each time I drive it as he does. Plus, I don't keep score each time it leaves the driveway. It only leaves the driveway when I feel like taking it out of the driveway. Not looking to see if I can put more mileage on it than anyone else does. It's not that important to me.

Mine goes to a couple of cruises and local shows a week. Went to one 40 miles away this past Friday and its still April. Lots more to get done on it this year to extend her legs. Point of clarification GB-the Macungie Show is the put on by the ATCA (Antique Truck Club of America) not the ATHS-there will be members of both great groups there-we're all related by trucks! Mike

I have to agree with keeping old trucks working while not as old as the trucks here I use my 62 Willys to plow snow and made about 3 trips last year with the bed loaded when scrap was high with my 76 d100.

People should retire from paid work to pay the rent but should still be active, and trucks should just work. That's what they were built to do.

I can see the big grin on this Power Wagon as it's doing what it was meant to do. Just not as hard or as long as it once did.
