I took a trip ot to Joe's place yesterday to see what he had done, He is on a lighting pace. The fenders are totally rust free now. I have never seen cleaner fenders out side of Carlise. He has blasted all the 55 odd years of rust. He's got sand everywhere:eek: I started to remove my shoes and put on a bathing suit. He's got a great compressor and blaster. The car is tucked away nice in the garage while Joe is working all the outer parts. We bought his hood down from the original garage where the car was and he got to work on it as soon as it hit the yard. Don't think Joe is all rip it up and blast it , he removed all the letter and trim from the hood with great finest. I did not want to say anything but This car is aging Joe;) when I first met him he looked about 30 now he's looking 60:eek: maybe it's the sand. Everything is looking great however and he looks real happy. flanagan003.jpg

Hey looks like the side effect from all this sandblasting is that your pavers will really be locked in. Looking good Joe. I have been using a produc from the True Value called The one (or Must) for rust. It a mix of dilute phosporic acid and a buffer. You spray it on and let it dry. It will get into the pores to ge the last bits of rust and it will leave a bit of a coating that will keep it from re rusting till you get to priming or body working it. when you are ready to deal with it you scuff and work. Maybe if you stay at it, you will be ready for the POC show in Wesminser, MD in sept.

What kind of welder is that on the floor? What are you using for the blaster.

Garage is about same size as mine. Have to move everything out to have a place to work. Good job keep us going with your pics.

Don, Don. What a card. I look older because I'm getting older. No getting around it.

Greg: I've never heard of that product from True Value but I'd sure like to try it. Right now though, I'm near the end of the rust, so I might just push on ahead.

Johnny: No luck with the hinges yet. As it turns out, I only need the ones for the drivers door. Pretty soon it's going to be impeding my progress.

Tinlizzy: The welder is an off brand kind called Cebora or something like that. It's a MIG. I bought it from a forum member and it works pretty darned well despite its appearance. The blaster I'm using is a 20 lb. Harbor Freight. My compressor is a 33 gallon Craftsman that I have to let cool quite a bit between sessions but it works.

Thanks for all the encouragement.

Joe we plan to go to the cabin the weekend of the 25-26th. I believe there are hinges on the pile of 50 ply 2dr sitting there. What is wrong with the ones you have? A machine shop should be able to replace the pins if they are loose.

Don, yes that was the first time I met him (Joe) face to face, I had talked to him on the phone and IM. Oh no wait, That was the first time we all met up. I had been over to Joe's house in my 1955 chevy. That' was when it was chilly. It was a summer day when you and I went over. PS I look younger:cool: and me in a speedo is to dye for, I can look most lovely:D HAHAHA.

Here is Joe's blaster, I was not there when Joe gets the sand going however you can tell he gets pretty wild with it. His wife was fearing that the grass was going south however he has a real nice shop vac. and that thing can get it all up:D flanagan002.jpgflanagan004.jpg
