Jim Shepard
Hey! The current issue of Hemmings shows a 53 Dodge truck that went for $40,700 at Barrett-Jackson in January. Holy crap!
Bob_Koch
Here's the barrett-jackson ad for what $40,000 buys you: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=283&ln=693&pop=0&it=
pflaming
Detail! Wow! Loved the pinstiping on the grill and cab, and the small chrome accent pieces. Are those chrome pieces on the grill and the running boards Mopar pieces. But $40 ?????
Reg Evans
No Paul, the chrome trim pieces are not stock but they do look good. Man...for 40K you'd think they would have at least found the correct hub caps, fresh air heater system, and something other than J.C. Whitney $12.00 clip on rear view mirrors. I wonder if it has a 610-T radio. I doubt it. Oh...and that rubber by the back of the hood is suppose to dive under the hood. 48Dodger
You know....in the desciption it sez "its a very rare truck"....what the heck classifies it as rare? Were the production numbers that small? Its been awhile since I cracked open the stats book on these trucks, but I'm kinda thinkin' they aren't so much rare as under appreciated. 48D
Reg Evans
I just cracked open the book and it says 52 = ~ 52100, 53 = ~ 36400,and 54 = ~ 35000 for the 1/2 tons. I guess rare was in the mind of the ad writer.
Bob_Koch
$40,000 and no radio?! Wow, I wonder how much it would have gone for if it had a 610-T in it. rare: haven't you see the term "rare" in ebay? When used it means the person is expecting an over inflated price. Reg Evans
Bob, I don't think they ever really produced any 610-T's. The only image I've ever seen of one of these was posted by Zeke and I'm pretty sure that was photoshopped.
pflaming
The 'rare' part is the price. I also noticed the non-stock mirrors and the chrome bumpers???? I doubt they were available, but then maybe so and I figured the little chrome strips were 'add ons' They do look good. It is a beautiful truck but just a bit 'prissy' for my taste. A truck is still a truck!!!
bobaloo11
My own 2cents..... Is that a "rare" chrome tail light I see peeking around the rear fender?
desoto1939
I am anot a mopar truck expert but I thought I had read that the beds were a rough plank and painted a flat black. If you are going to be taking a truck to an AACA regioanl show for judging you better read the judging manual. They are now deducting major points on the pickups that do not have the beds painted black as they did when they came out from the factory. If the truck had already been judged then they will grandfather the bed if it is not painted black. People buy cars and items from BJ and have not done their research and they think the items are perfect but this is an example that might be incorrect. I have a 39 Desoto so just commenting in onthe truck scene. rich hartung desoto1939@aol.com
villageidiot
I wanna know how you got that pix off the BJ site Bob? The pix you posted is huge compared to the one they "blow up" when you click on it. Trying to get a better look at the other 2 pix they show. Any advice is appreciated!
