Trying to restore p15s 1948. On the dash is a chrome piece (8-39-3) in the parts book called headlamp beam assembly. Can you tell me where to find the lightbulb part?

I believe you are refering to the highbeam indicator. There should be a red jewel above the lightbulb. I can't say what bulb is in there as I have never had mine apart, but I would guess it would be the same as the other dash board lamps.

The high beam indicator piece should look like this. It originally would show red when the high beams were on. Often the red lense has fallen out of the part over the years......but a new one can be made with a little ingenuity.

There is a tube on the back side into which a socket with a dash light bulb fits. Click on thumbnail to enlarge. The part is shown in the lower left corner of this exploded drawing from the Parts Manual.

Parts book says: Bulb, headlamp beam indicator..., single contact, 6-8 volt, one bulb needed.

Then it says, for instrument panel: single contact, 3 candlepower, 6-8 volt, 2 bulbs.

The part numbers are different on them, but may really be the same bulb. At least the same one would work if used.

If I'd taken better notes, I would've been able to help. I bought several of all the bulbs listed on the homepage and replaced all my dash bulbs at one time. I didn't realize how bad they'd gotten until the new ones were in.
