bob westphal Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Hey you guys with 4dr. P-15s. I'm wondering if the 4dr. or 2 dr. sedan rear seat cushion is the same as the club coupe. The club coupe arm rest is a bolt on to the interior panel so the cushion goes straight back with no curves on the sides. I know the S-11s and Chryslers are curved around the arm rest bulge. Are the P-15s the same? Thanks, Bob Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Bob, I believe the 4 door rear seats in the P15's are larger and won't fit the coupe. Quote
bob westphal Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 What's left of my cushion is 55.5 " wide. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Bob, still don't know the exact sizes. However, the parts book shows one seat being used for 4 doors, 2 door sedan. Club coupe has a different seat part number listed. So, if you're looking for an original type seat you're stuck with club coupe only. See page 275 if you have the parts book. Otherwise I've seen people use K car seats or Cadillac cimmeron seats in the P15 and they look good, or if your base is good rebuild it. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Or, you could just remove the rear seat, build a shelf and have a unique business coupe. Wonder if anyone has ever done that? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 That would make one heck of a package tray wouldn't it..that was the sweet part of the Dodge business coupe....that short tray and no back seat... Quote
1just4don Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Alot of those seats were temporarily removed to transport calves, lambs pigs and other livestock to and from the market. Always heard of one guy who took his HUGE boar pig to market that way. supposedly weighed like 8-900# That would be bigger than three fat ladies sitting back there. It would 'challenge' the available space,no room to turn around!!(and it better have been a 4 door!!!) I think I can personaly remember one time in a blizzard and we needed some coal, dad took the back seat out and hauled a good jag of coal home to keep the fires stoked. We ALWAYS went to the sale barn and bought baby bottle calves very reasonably and hauled them home just making them lay down in the trunk. Surprisingly they rarely if ever made a mess either. As long as they are laying down they dont. Still did that up to sorta recent years!! The 'looks' you get doing that are 'priceless'!!! Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 BobT, Funny you should mention turning the club coupe into a business coupe. I've been thinking about that for several months. When I did my interior I decided not to put the ashtrays and window cranks back in. Holes are in the panel backing boards for them but like the smooth look, so left them off. Did not cut the holes in the panel covering material. Also did not put the arm rest back in, in the back for the same reason. No one rides back there anyway. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 I've got the back seat out of my 2dr sedan sitting here if anyones interested. Quote
bob westphal Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 Thanks for the replies and a couple good ideas. I want a back seat so that those unfortunate people who were born too late to enjoy these great cars can have a chance to enjoy them today. I'll check out the local Wreckers for some K cars seats. All I want is a seat. I don't care if it isn't original. Quote
