Hi Guys,

I've been busy over the weekend getting some trims fitted on my recently fitted Agape fender skirts. They are part of a set for a late 40's chev. Just thought I'd share the results with you all.

Deano.

Hi Jim, No I did nothing to them at all apart from primer then paint. They're steel by the way. Simple to fit! Deano.:)

Deano, Your car really looks good. I recently put Agape Skirts and Visor on my 48 Dodge. They fit really well. I am going to the old car swap meet in Moultrey GA this weekend. Hope to find some trim to go on the skirts. Jim C.

You know Jim, that is a very unusually striking automobile! The color suits it perfectly. The lines are very similar to my '47 Desoto Custom. I'm convinbced to get those fender skirts. nd the visor is very appealling also. Does it really do much to keep the sun out of your eyes? It all makes the car look so "limo" looking. Who did the paint? Has all the crome been re-done?

On your dodge that already has a strip on the fender I wouldn't add more to the skirt. Would make it look busy.

I'm with Young Ed on that one - the rear fender trim is enough on the Dodge and it looks GREAT.

By the way, in answer to Bingster's question, I know Dean bought a full set of re-popped 46-48 Ch*v skirt trims (available on Ebay for about 60 bucks) then just used the two shortest on each side.

He's also detailed the stripes in red.

It's very smart!

Hey Jim,

I really like the way your car looks too! Having now fitted the skirts and seen how much it changes the whole look of the car , I don't think I would run it without them. It's a fine line to tread , as to what's enough and what's too much as far as add on's are concerned. I nearly put too many trims on, but was advised to exercise caution. I did a mock up, photographed it, thought about it , and then changed my decision. I'm glad I did. Less is more! Deano:D

Thanks Guys for the input. My wife agrees that I don't need any more trim. Between you guys and "Granny Millie" I have come to believe you all are right. I aquired this car abt. 9 mo. ago in a trade with Lou E. A friend of his painted it. The paint is abf Green(used on 1999 Mack Trucks). A local body shop painted the skirts and visor for me. I am a survivor of Lung Cancer which ended my painting days a few years ago. It does a good job of keeping the sun out of my eyes. The paint shop left a dull finish on the under side so the glare is minimal. Might try to find some amber fog lights at the swap meet this weekend. I really enjoy the forum. I like to look at member profiles and see other members cars and trucks. Too bad not everyone posts pictures of their cars.

This is my '47 Desoto Custom S-11 over a year ago. It looks basically the same now, but I have totally degreased, cleaned and primed the front suspension parts and back to the transmission housing, as well as the brake components. The engine has also been thoroughly cleaned for painting and all the bolt-on stuff such as the generator has been repainted and ready for installation.

Had to stop painting for the winter cause the garage it's parked in is not heated. Used Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator for the primer and then will use their Super Chassis Black for the final.

A recent bid for the chrome grill was about $2100.

Thanks, Deano. I love it too. Called a "Waterfall" grill. The '47 Chrysler Windsor which is basically the same body style has a different grille they call the "Egg Carton Grille." It's interesting the personality a grille gives an auto.

Bingster, I really like your Desoto. I recently sold a 52 Desoto that I had for 30 years. I still have a 53 Desoto parts car left. Very few usable parts left on it now. I sold the 52 to a forum member so it is in good hands. Selling it was like losing one of the family. Thanks for posting the picture of your car. Jim

Hi Darin, Yes it's Balfour Green, I really like the colour myself, although from a few comments that I've had from non believers over here , you either love it or hate it!! Deano:D

Well.........I'm not a fan of green cars myself, except the dark forest green. However, regardless of the color, if the owner likes it, that's all that really counts. After all, some people may not like the color of cars I own either and that's their choice, but I do.

Your skirts look good on the car. I also have a pair of Agape skirts on my coupe.

Balfour Green was my first choice to paint my car, but on the paint chip it looked awful. On your car it looks rather nice. Something to think about come the next repaint.

BTW...I had some friends out from London and Portsmouth last week and we took them for a ride out in the P15. The really liked the old car, but had never seen one before. I told them that there are a few out in England so maybe they might see yours, now that they know how they look. Cheers!

Darin, I think we've got just about every P15, model variant over here now barring a woody! What colour did you paint your car by the way, I can't tell from the photo on the members page, sure looks in good shape though, Cheers, Deano
