Powerhouse Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 I just put this in between the pcv and intake.....it seperates the nasty stuff from the unused gas....helps keep the plugs cleaner and better idle. It was only $20. Quote
teardrop puller Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 What is it and where did you get it? kai Quote
Powerhouse Posted January 29, 2009 Author Report Posted January 29, 2009 it's called a PCV enhancer...I got it on EBAY...there are a few different makers..mine came from a company in Texas...best value and construction. 1.It filters out the sludge. It keeps oil, engine and spark plugs cleaner. 2.It condenses the water out of crankcase where we do not want it. 3.It allows all burnable gases to flow back through to the engine intake for more efficient burning. 4.Better and cleaner recycling of gases. 5.Mileage increase and further emissions reduction. 6.Longer engine life and less maintenance. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4506.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DK%252BD%26otn%3D2%26ps%3D5&item=400024706772&ih=027&category=57114&viewitem= Quote
blueskies Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 ... 2.It condenses the water out of crankcase where we do not want it. So, is the liquid in there condensation? Pete Quote
dezeldoc Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Wonder if it works in conjunction with the magnet on the fuel line to realign the molecules and the tornado twister for the intake air charge. Seriously though it looks like a water separator. Quote
grey beard Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 If'n y'all read that really faaaaahn print, betcha' it also increases yer attractin to the hopposite sexxxx . . . go figger'! In keeping with Don's snake oil, I freely admit that whilst I was sixteen year old and quite green behind the ears, I watched a demonstration at a farmers' market here in Pennsyltucky where a charlatain inserted a "Rocket Booster" module in series with the secondary coil wire on a customer's car. Jusr pulled the wire out of the distributor cap tower and plugged the booster into the cap and then plugged the wire in on top of it. Would you believe that idle rpm went up nearly 500 rpm? When he took the booster out, rpm went back to where it was originally. He then proceeded to steal my heart ( and about $9 bucks cash from my wallet) with a speach about how this PROVED beyond all doubt that if rpm went up, so did power, economy,l and all like that there . . . Went home and put the booster on my car. Yuo, rpm went right up. Drove the thing around like that for a week or two, and noticed absolutely no other difference. Finally curiosity got the best of me and I sawed the thing in two. Know what was inside? A 1/4-inch air gap. Nothing more. Coulda' got the same response just by pulling the coil wire out half an inch. Just made the ignition system work harder to jump the extra gap. Like old P. T. Barnum said, there's a sucker born every whip stitch . . . Quote
Californian Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 The one's that made out in CA with required PVC on cars 55 and up in the 1960's was Puralator and those that installed them PVC setups. They took crankcase fumes and ran it back in the intake with those one direction PVC valves so if you had a tired engine it was going to get worse taking the road draft tube fumes and recirculating them. creating a whole lot of sludge..The whole CA smog control is BS , with test only stations and the smog reqirements is a whole industry that puts people to work and the state collects $8.00 and change for every smog control certificate..Diesel exhaust and wood burning create more carsenagenic polution....Just my OP on PCV's..diesel and such. Normspeed Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 I like the enhancer. If I ever get around to adding PCV on my P24 I'd install one of these as part of the setup. If it works or doesn't work, it still has a neat look and remember, some of the gadgets from the 40s and 50s are highly prized finds years later. Someone in the year 2070 might be real happy to find that on the old Mopar they just bought. Quote

"some of the gadgets from the 40s and 50s are highly prized finds years later" Thank you Norm, that thought remined me of the Mercury Water Vaporizer , I believe it was called and was on a 48 DeSoto when I bought it and I kept it on there cause it looked cool. This water bottle that looked like a large pickle jar and the water in it bubbled up with the engine runnning it had a metal spigot coming out of the carburator gasket that went to the bottle and there was a neddle adjustment on the top of the bottle to trim the water being sucked into the engine to cool the valves or cool the gas mixture.... greg g Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Ok here is the deal. I got a spare 218 in the back of the garage. I think I'm gonna fix it up and run it with all the stuff I can find. vortex generator in the intake air, magnets and fuel ionizer on the gas line between teh wooden clothes pins of course. The spark intensifier on the coil, the little ones on top of the plugs. Top cylinder lube, Hydrogen contraption, carb heater, water injector, toilet paper oil filter, fuel line cool can, V max in the oil and gas along with marvell mystery oil, stp, Bardol, motor honey, in the sump. Almost forgot the acetone in the gastank. If the engine even starts I bet it would get 40 mpg, put nothing lilac scented air out the exhust pipe, go 0 to 60 in 6 seconds, stop on a dime and the drain oil could be used as a substitute for chocolate milk. Tom (09) So I am taking it you don't like diesels or fireplaces?? you need to bone up on your answers as they are wrong. the pcv was to remove the oil getting spit on the roads and to burn off the fumes, you are so far off base on the diesel and fireplace thing it is pathetic. the water injection prevents detonation, gets rid of the carbon build up on the pistons. wise man once told me it's better to not say anything and be thought a fool than to speek and remove all doubt!! Just my .02!! oh yeh can ya tell I own a fireplace and a diesel!! Quote

Just my .02!! oh yeh can ya tell I own a fireplace and a diesel!! On diesel exhaust you took that right! No matter what diesels commercial value is, it is still the filthiest thing coming out of a truck or buses exhaust pipe!!! I know first hand after 25 years around diesel tractors and urban transit coaches, the problems that breathing diesel exhaust and woodburning smoke can cause or make worse like asthma for one! The CARB rates diesel exhaust as a cancer causing carcinigen and we don't have spare the air days in Northern CA because breathning wood burning smoke is good for everyone... Try getting out of the cab of what ever diesel cage you have and get on the backside of diesel burning vehicle and take a long hard wiff of that aeromatic diesel exhaust you like to spew!!! dezeldoc Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Been around diesels for the past 35 yrs love the smell, all that soot to me is $$ thats how I make my living. if you believe the garbage the state tells you, you must also believe al gore and his global warming bs. On edit; here's one for ya how about volcanos, forest fires how much do ya think they put out compaired to trucks and fireplaces?? oh ya watch for the cows farting ya don't want to breathe the gas!!! Powerhouse Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 OK guys.... :o settle down now....Gee whiz, was this thread about a jar full of bearings or the crazy things we're fed by the "higher powers". I wouldn't worry about any of that...can't do anything about it anyway...except vote. But that's an entirely different and depressing thought. THE PCV ENHANCER...definitely does keep the oil and water out of the reburn. Which is good...as far as increasing power, better gas mileage, less hair loss, bigger ding dong....I don't really care. A few more or less HP doesn't really matter a hill of beans. It is neat to see the bearings catch the oil and water...it would be neat if it were an all metal contraption with some neato name like...Oil-O or Sludgeamatic....or....Gunk-Dunker....ya dig? That gives me an idea....an old glass bowl fuel filter...some bearings...a neat decal...that would make a neat looking doohicky... Quote
Powerhouse Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 So, is the liquid in there condensation?Pete There actually isn't any large amount of liquid in there...that's just a little "steam" on the walls. Eventually in about a month or so it would need to be cleaned out. Quote
T120 Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 ..I agree with Norm, can't do any harm-looks cool and a conversation piece to be sure Quote
greg g Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 do you have the installation instructions????? Is that a vacuum homoginizer, or a heater fluid agitator? Quote
Powerhouse Posted January 31, 2009 Author Report Posted January 31, 2009 what the heck is that? Quote
greg g Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Thanks for the offer Shel but if that is where it goes I would need two. I think you need to put that bad boy in J Edgar and see what happens. Quote
T120 Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 ..only problem with that add-on is you have to pull your carb to show it off;) Quote
Powerhouse Posted January 31, 2009 Author Report Posted January 31, 2009 a what?!?!?! LOVE the name...I'm sure it works great too. Quote
