Dennis_MN Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 This is for any of the pickup people close to the Twin Cities of Minnesota to see if any are thinking of showing your pickup at this event, and more importantly to have a face to face meeting. The event is held on May 30-31 at the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington, MN. This is about 1/2 way between Rochester and Monticello if Dan Olson and Dennis Sullivan showed their trucks. I've contacted Don Bunn to see if he would be interested which would make it pretty fun. I brought my truck to this event and walked around the car show with Mr Bunn. I'm sure there would be interest in seeing our disk brake installation. I'm thinking of Saturday only but I could be talked into a motel if more were interested. Merle Coggins Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I've actually been thinking about driving the Ol' Dodge up for that myself. I was thinking of taking vacation on that Friday and Monday so I could drive up on Friday and and have Monday to come home if needed. I got to know a couple of guys in the club that runs it. They asked me to bring up my truck, when I was talking with them last summer. Merle Quote
grey beard Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Hey Merle, Gotcher' interior installed yet? Show-n'-tell? Regards, Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Haven't been working on it much lately. I did get out there today and got the firewall pad in. 'Twasn't much fun. I had to do some trimming and fitting, but it's in there now. I also got my heater rebuilt and installed, but not hooked up yet. I'm still working on it. I didn't take any pics today, but when I get back to the rest of it, I'll try to have my camera handy. Merle Quote
johnthomas Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I have a '53 3/4 ton -former Hamel fire dept truck (see page 143 in D Bunn's Dodge B Series Truck book) that I purchased 2 years ago. The body work should be done by then. I have been thinking of driving it down from Moorhead for the event Perhaps leave it at my son's house and take it to "Back to the 50's in June. The truck now has 1,500 miles on it-so it needs "breaking" in. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Depending on what else I might have going on that weekend I'd be in. Quote
Dennis_MN Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 Depending on what else I might have going on that weekend I'd be in. I hear that they have a great swap meet with all sorts of Mopar stuff. That alone should be a priority for you. Dennis Quote
Young Ed Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 If its a saturday I should be good. The only other thing I'd be likely to have going on is a plymouth club meeting and they 99% of the time on sundays. Quote
DanOlson Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Sent in my registration yesterday. Should be a good time. I WILL drive the 53 and not trailer it. Dan Quote
Young Ed Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 I just now realized this is the mopars in the park show. I've been a few times before. Had a few bad experiences getting in and out of the show in the old location. Is this one better spacewise? Quote
Dennis_MN Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 I just now realized this is the mopars in the park show. I've been a few times before. Had a few bad experiences getting in and out of the show in the old location. Is this one better spacewise? This will be my first time at this location so I don't have a clue, I did pre-register and found that I could bypass all of the confusion at the old site with the preregistration. The fairgrounds have more than adequate space and the site should not present a bottleneck. However if the club chooses to have one entrance and everyone shows up at 8:05 AM they can create a mess. I sent along a pilothouse club card so that perhaps they would put them together. I am driving from Monticello and I havent decided whether or not to stay for Sunday. Depends on Merle.... Young Ed Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Well the last time I went there weren't all that many trucks and they were all together. One time we got stuck in there and couldn't leave and other time we almost got beat up because a flag guy told us to get in line and we got in front of people who were already waiting. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Just for inspiration here are a few pics from previous years. I see I haven't been since 2004. here is the album click on the various years on the right http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v172/dodgepu1946/mopars%20in%20the%20park/ Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 My plan, as of now, is to drive the 'ol Dodge up there on Friday, sticking mostly to rural roads. I expect it to be a 7 or 8 hour trip. Then I figured I'd stick around for both days of the show and make the return trip on Monday. I'll be sending in my registration soon. Then I'll have to make hotel reservations. Any suggestions on hotels in the area? Merle Quote

Merle http://www.midwestmopars.com/showstuff/hotels_and_camping.htm This is the Midwest Mopars site. I'm familar with the Motel 6 which is 8 miles West of the fairgrounds. There ought to be something to the East but I'm not familiar with the area. Far enough east brings one to Hampton Dennis Quote
