I have 6.5 by 16 on my '47 D-24. Want to know if a set of 225-60-16 will fit on the stock rim and under the car? found a set off cadi with gold and white strip, just want to know if they will fit under the fender wells.

Greg is right...the profile of the tire you want to run requires a larger rim....however..please keep in mind that even though the later model Chrysler factory alloys are expressed in mm's...they are still 5 on 4.5...I have late model alloys on three of my vintage Plymouth/Dodge cars...with a 4th set in reserve but have not yet decided what car these may yet go on..

Then what size would I need to run on my stock rim? I would like to keep the Dodge hub caps and may run a set of those white wide beauty rings that are 16" . I really don't want to have to buy a set of rims as well as tires, but if I have to.

Ask your tire dealer to pull down a 195 or 205 x 75 16 tire and look that over. It is nearly the same size and profile as the original bias ply tire but offers all the known advantages of radials. I am using 215 x 85 16's on my B series Dodge pickup and am very happy with them, but they are somewhat taller than you likely want for an automobile. I wanted lower crank rpm's and these 31 inch tall tires make cruising at normal highway speeds no strail.

Radial tubeless tires work just fine on our stock 4 1/2-inch wide rims if they have been blasted and powder coated or painted first. You may have to cajole your tire dealer to try one before he will believe you, but once you see one mounted everyone becomes an automatic believer.

1. Go to the Diamond Back web site. They have a diagram that gives you the dimensions of every size tire they sell. Coker website does also.

2. Find a good welding shop, and have 2 inches added to your rims. To keep stock apperance, have it added to inside of rim. Check you current setup to assure you have extra couple of inches on the inside.

I guess I will need to just look for tires that will fit like the 195/75/16 or even 205/75/16. The only other option would be to find diff. rims with same back space, but then I can't use the Dodge dog dish. Will I still need to do brakes and few other things till she will see the road so have time.
