Tony Cipponeri Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Yahoo, I just got word that they accepted my car into the L A Roadster Show. I am not telling anyone but I kinda got in through the back door. Seems like the club I belong to is going to have a club display at the show. We get to take 6 cars in for the display. Our cars won't be judged, thank god for that, but we will be rubbing shoulders with the best. Tony C Quote
Niel Hoback Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Congratulations ! You and your car deserve to be there no matter how it happens. Quote
randroid Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Tony, That's sweet! You've got your foot in the door and maybe next show they'll remember you and have you come in through the front. -Randy Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Congrats Tony, Make sure that you take lots of photos. Dennis:cool: Quote
Normspeed Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Did you have to chop off the roof? Great show. This year will be the first time in about 15 years that I'll miss it. Best swap meet too. 2007 was the 50th anniversary of the club that puts it on. Second day of the show, a friend of mine let me drive his 32 in. Quote
Grandadeo Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Norm, I think Tony is talking about the GNRS next week, the winter show. Good your you Tony. Rodney Bullock Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Hey Tony C. Some of my friends go to that show, It is known even out here in the east. Your club must be heavy hitter because they don't let anyone in back door or not. Do you think there will be TV coverage? I like it! Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 Hey Rodney, The club is Inland Mopars, it is the biggest Mopar club in the Inland Empire. They have a yearly car show at The California School For The Deaf. This will be the third year, that they raffle off a car, for the school. I only joined them last year, and I am very happy with the club. We will manning the souvenir boothes for the roadster show, and we make money for the club. Tony C Quote
Normspeed Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Frankie, I never miss a chance to put up photos. Here it is, as it looked before the V8 and after. First photo was at Santa Anita Racetrack. The show, put on by Cal-Rods, took place in the infield of the track, while horse races were going on. A great day. Open headers and burnouts were prohibited so as not to scare the horses. Hooters girls abounded. The rest of the photos were at the Antique Nationals in Pomona last year. As you can see, Tony's car has developed an attitude. His car does not smoke, that's a reflection off my windshield. He even passed me in staging! And there is a shot of the man himself moving through the staging lanes. The only time my car was ahead of his all day:p. Note his bullwhip hanging within easy reach. He uses it to thrash arrogant Chebys AND fURDS. Then a shot of our rides in the pit area, and holy smokes, there's our pit boss, head wrench and number one tool monkey. Grandadeo! Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 Hey Norm Thanks for putting up the pictures for me, one of these days I might learn how to. That reminds me how many of those Hooter girls did you wind up with after that show, you never did say. Tony C Quote
Normspeed Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Sorry Tony I don't kiss and tell. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 This is the Santa Anita show again. Tony, did I ever mention I really like 3 window coupes? And yes, Tony's car is in the last photo. You have to look for it. Quote
Fireball Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I visited to west Covina Hooters with my wife last November, didn't see that girl on right, she is HOT. Tony has a beatiful piece of old iron there, I only wish I could go to L.A roadster show Quote
Grandadeo Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Yeah Lee, You are right ,it is this week end. I don't know Billy Gibbons, but tell him I will be working at one of the souvenir boothes. Saturday afternoon. Tony C Hey guys, just a point of clarification. It's the Grand National Roadster show, formerly held in Oakland then San Fran. Moved to Pomona 4 or 5 years ago. Not to be confused with the LA Roadster's Show and Swap Meet held on Father's Day weekend in June and put on by the LA Roadsters car club. Tony - unfortunately Billy Gibbons is not a personal friend. But I'm sure you do know him. Belongs to a little old band out of TX. Plays a mean electric guitar, has a really long beard and loves hot rods. Still, if you see him tell him Lee said hi. Lee Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 This is the Santa Anita show again. Tony, did I ever mention I really like 3 window coupes? Frank Elder Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks, Normspeed:D I went through your posts tony, I see you don't post pics any better than I do...lol! The only way I've gotten it is to pick a picture, put the pointer on it, right click, scroll my options to save picture as. Then save picture. It goes to my photo gallery and is saved. Then when you post, go to manage attachments clickleft, browse, choose pic, open pic, left click upload and submit post. I'm sure there is a simpler way, but this works for me. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Tony, Here are some photos, from Dave Lindsay / SoCalCarCulture.com web site, of your car on Thursday setup day. http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/car_shows/car-shows-2009/grand-national-road/page4.html Dennis:cool: Quote

Young Ed Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Tony did you put p15 hubcaps on the front to try and fit in? Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 Well Ed, That is a long story. I had the rear rims made thinking I was going to put baby moons all around on the car. I had the rims powder coated, then realixed that the baby moons wouldn't fit on the front stock rims. Tim Adams gave me a deal on the stock hub caps, that I couldn't refuse, I didn't even think of what year they were, they just looked good. End of story. Tony C Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 Thank You Dennis, For posting those pictures for me. Tony C Quote
