Charlie Olson Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Hi, STOP THE CALVARY was a song written as a war protest song in England (1980's), but it's one line reference to Christmas has made it one of the most popular Christmas songs in the UK. Basically, it was written as if being sung by British troops in WWI, wanting the war to be over. Very unique. This version is sung by the Cory Band with the Gwalia Singers from Wales. I hope you all like it. It is my present to you in wishing you all a VERY Happy New Year. Oh yeah, BTW, turn up your speakers. and now from Wales: http://bookish85.vox.com/library/audio/6a00cd9700115b4cd500cdf7e8fe07094f.html Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 My favorite music is on the day after christmas, none, after hearing it on tv, radio and every store since halloween, when did that start by the way? I'm really ready for the assault to be over. Quote
dirty dan Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Carol of the Bells is still my favorite. Quote
1940plymouth Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 "Do you heard what I hear" by Bing Crosby is my favorite Quote

And I can't imagine too many, even die-hard fanatics being able to take that much of it. Call me a scrooge if you will but most Christmas music really sucks anyway. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 We had 2 stations here that did that. I don't pay too much attention to it because I can't take that much christmas music either but I'm pretty sure in an attempt to outdo each other they started before thanksgiving this year. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Really. I can't believe that some radio stations start broadcasting Christmas music exclusively starting about Thanksgiving. Dennis:rolleyes: Quote
Young Ed Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 I think what annoys me the most is that there seem to only be about 12 different songs with 600 versions of each one. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Around here they started putting Christmas decos in the stores for sale before Halloween! I do enjoy listing to Christmas music though and the season. We even have a nice collection of the old and newer Christmas classic movies on DVD and CD's. That said, I am happy when it's all over and the New Year starts. Then it's all back to normal. Didn't go to that link. Never was into any type of the old or new protest type music. Quote
