coW52Dodge Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 This yard apparently has a bunch of really nice old cars and trucks - I spot one pilot house. The address is said to be: 60 weaver hill road West Greenwich, RI 02817 Edit: scratch that - two pilothouses! Quote
greg g Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Did you notice the make of the coupe next to the pictured truck?? Looks like a special bodied car with the very thin b pillars (almost a hard top look) Some one posted a 41 Desoto a few years back witha similar body. Looking into it showed it was one of very few coach built bodies built on the Desotp Chasis. Looked a lot like that style. Quote
coW52Dodge Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 Is that right? Wow.. Makes me sad, seeing those pictures. Of course, by the same token it makes me want to jump in a car and go for a drive: They are just under two hours away from me. Quote
coW52Dodge Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 A friend of mine in Idaho (he looked my truck over for me, before I bought it) lives 15 minutes away from this place. Apparently, they don't have the rust problems we have here in the North East. Since my truck will need some odds and ends, he's going shopping there for me when the snow disappears. He tells me the place has several pilothouses. Why can't we be that lucky, having a great place like that nearby? Edit: Here are the pilothouses Quote

That looks like a '41 Merc I found this picture of a '40 with the same top and narrow pillar http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/socalearlyfordv-8/Currey40.htm Dennis Quote
Zeke1953 Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 According to MapQuest, that RI junk yard is only 45 minutes from where I live in southeastern MA. Sure wish I knew it was there four years ago when I started restoring my truck. As soon as all the snow we got this weekend melts, I'll take a ride over there to check things out. Zeke Quote

Rodney Bullock Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Hey Pats your GP had a Studebaker? You know what that means:D start looking. Quote
PatS.... Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Rodney, to my knowledge, he never owned anything but a Studebaker. Pop was profoundly deaf, and shifted by ear!! Those old Studebakers hit 5 grand at every shift and lasted him for years...tough old cars they were. Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 WOW, once you get past the mustangs it gets interesting:D Quote

olddodgeguy Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I think the coupe is a 1940 Hudson. A buddy had one back in 1955 that looked like that. I've slept since then so I may be remembering wrong! LOL Mike Quote
Jim Shepard Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I think this is the same truck from different angles. Quote
