Hey guys,

I`m trying to find a 8 track/ cassette- well -ok skip these/or up to date anything CD of cool late 50's early 60's old car music-no vocals just the twangy drummy beer drinkin guitar stuff. My internet search went nowhere. I want some old car non vocals for the shop while I repair-maintain all my old MoPar cars and other old stuff in my big old shop!!!! Hopefully this will keep me motivated to keep em all running!!! I only drink one "Rainier Beer" 24 pack a day- that would be only on Saturday! My friends help on the beer consumtion too because I fix their cars too! I need some hippy hoppy music to make the free repairs seem worthwhile! What do all you folks listen too in your shop?

Bob,

Here in NC we have a Best Buy and you can get just about all the oldies stuff

CD's, Cassettes, Etc, at a discount section. I get the 40's 50's 60's stuff

around $2.99 - $4.99 a CD, stuff like Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Irving Berlin, Little singing but much Big Band. There are also old folk song stuff like Billy Ed Wheeler, Red Sovine, and Johny Cash. We have a guy from NC Mountains named Mike Cross. He is good. The Fiftees are great listening to also,

they have a large selection of discount 50's 60's stuff it seems the youngsters don't really listen to real music anymore, so its dirt cheap to buy now.

I wonder if they have an album of just instrumentals.

There were a lot of instrumentals in the early days of rock.....look for

some Ventures albums. Lonnie Mack had a couple instrumentals out

in the 60s.....his version of Memphis, and another called Wham. I

think they are both on one of his first albums called "The Wham of That

Memphis Man." Somewhere in my collection of "stuff" I have that album,

which he autographed for me. Another single was Tequila by the Champs.

And Torquay by the Fireballs. Maybe some Duane Eddy stuff.

You can buy in Oz a Sony turntable with a USB connection that will hook up to your computer. This will allow you to record your records 33, 45 & 78 to a CD or Ipod type thingy. Cost here is about $200, but if you have a lot of records (or friends with records :D ) could be worth investigating. Moving slightly OT, a mate of mine with a 40 Buick is going to set up an IPod shuffle with some old time radio show podcasts and music, and wire it into a new radio hidden in the glove box. If you have an original radio converted to receive FM, you can also get a FM transmitter which will send a signal about 10'.
