Willis Pingel Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 Thanks Bill. You do have a nice big yard. If you are willing to host it at your house, I'll still buy the burgers & brats. Do you have a preference on dates? I'm starting to lean back to the late April, early May dates.I can see it now... A dozen or more vintage Mopar's lined up in your driveway and down the street... Merle I think the closer we get to Memorial day the better the weather and less rain. If my lawn is dry we can park truck on it. My driveway is 238' long so we can get 10 trucks or more in the driveway. I do have some friends with truck other than Dodge, are they welcome to come. What about classic cars? Are the Women invited? Am I getting to crazzy. I don't expect you to feed all them, but some might want to stop in "cause I've been bragging up the club" and say hi. Bill in Racine Quote
Young Ed Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 I hope classic cars are invited. Because of the distance I might drive my plymouth. Its much more comfortable and its way better in the rain. The truck leaks Hmmm Merle maybe I should get busy in the spring and put my plymouth truck together with that engine you sold me. I finally have the rear fenders for it. Oh I modified your engine stand design to be a little stronger now and I put casters under it. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 26, 2008 Author Report Posted November 26, 2008 Of course classic cars are invited... I did post the same thread on the car side of this forum. Bill, you can include your friends too. The more, the merrier. And yes, spouses are considered included, otherwise I'd be in the dog house with my girlfriend. Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Merle' date=' My travel time would be increased by about 30 or 40 minutes. Because of that, I'm not so sure I'd drive my coupe down to the meet. [/quote'] Norm; It must be really painful for you to drive your coupe. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Norm;It must be really painful for you to drive your coupe. Don, Not painful. Just try and stay out of high traffic area's when driving it. To make a straight shot to where Willis lives from my house I have to drive straight through downtown Milwaukee from the northern border of the county. It's not too bad until you get downtown and from there south. South of downtown is the heaviest traffic around. That section down to the Illinois border gets all the traffic from Chicago and west of here passing through it. Willis is in Racine county between here and Chicago. For me to bypass all that traffic, I'd have to swing west to Waukesha county, then south to Racine county, then back east again. So...........I don't drive my coupe down that way. You have to remember, it's not like down where you live with a lot less traffic. Regardless of what our local politicians say, Milwaukee is part of the metro Chicago area. You can't drive down to Chicago and see empty land anymore. It's all one continuous building after building with the traffic to match for 100 miles between here and there. In fact, that even stretches over to northeastern Indiana. And, it's almost that way for the 70 miles between Milwaukee and Madison now along I-94. Quote

It must be really painful for you to drive your car. I have driven in heavy traffic in Detroit, Indianapolis, Dulles, Virginia (think DC traffic here), and all roads in between. Why do you even have your car if you are afraid to drive it? A chance for you to meet a bunch of forum members and show off your car and you are wimping out. Quote

I will drive one of my two modern cars. If someone would like to see my coupe that day, or another day, they can drive the 40 or 50 miles north of where Willis lives and I'll show it to them, and take them for a ride in it if they like. Just as I am not into entering car shows for trophies, I'm also not into driving it just to show it off. I know I have it, and that's all that really counts to me. It's a hobby car. As such, I enjoy driving it once in awhile. But.........the really fun part is working on it when I have the time and feel like it. And, I'm in no hurry to get things done on it. If I do, then it won't be as much fun. Had my most fun when rebuilding the engine, fixing the floors and doing the interior. Lots more fun doing that than driving it. I don't consider driving in heavy traffic fun in any car. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 Norm, you could take Lake Shore Drive and Hwy 32 down to Oak Creek, pick up 31 and you'd end up just east of Bill's house when you get to Hwy 20. Just a thought. Quote
