greg g Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 So this morning my daughter gets up to go to work, goes outside and her rental car (her's is in the shop after an accident) is gone, not only her's but her roomate's ( a car she bought about a week and a half ago) and her other roomate's father's car (out of state plates) is gone also. They live in one of those gated Florida communities in a Duplex Condo belonging to one roomates boyfriend's sister (Don't get me going on this)with a community association and all their bogus rules and regulations. Upon investigation it is discovered that the Assoiciation Asthetic Code Enforcment officer had them towed as they were strange vehicles. No warning, no questions, just show up at 3 AM and tow them. Well the one roomates father was nice enough to pay the impound fees, but then raised holy hannah with the tow company and the trash can ranger. He asked upon whom's authority three vehicles were towed from the same address without so much as a pardon me but are these your cars???? Was told the trash can ranger decided to have them removed. So his car had out of state plates, really suspicious seeing it is HOLIDAY TRAVEL TIME you bovine dolt, and under the same circumstances I can certainly understand why a rental car might get the hook, probably no one in Florida visits for the HOLIDAYS, Flies in and rents a CAR while they are visiting, and OH YEA!!! Since the new car wasn't a BMW or Jaguar, it was suspicious also. The Dad, being a lawyer and all, is having a demand restitution letter drawn up with a demand for the reimbursement check to be in his hands by end of business Tuesday, or will be following up with enough legal paper to cover the walls in the association's offices. Yes there is a rule about notifying the association of visitors and other cars there temporarily, but since the office closed for the HOLIDAYS on Dec 22, and won't reopen till January 4th, there was no way to tender the notice. See what happens when you give a moron a bit of authority......... Arrggghhhh Happy Holidays to all and to all a good night!!!!!!! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 now you know why they call it a gated community..they don't want these crazies out in the general population... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Reminds me of the parking ticket I got at the mall a couple weeks ago. Just after the big (for here) snow we had. The parking lot was reasonably well cleared, but were big piles of the snow from the clearing. I parked at the end of a pile of snow with another vehicle, not really a regular parking spot, but not in the way of anything either. When I returned to the car, there were at least 4 more cars parked beside me.....all had a nice parking ticket issued by the mall security ossifer. Now there is no fine nor anything else but nuisance value attached to that ticket. "We have made record of your license number and if this sort of thing continues, your mall parking privileges may be revoked" -- or something to that effect. I thought about calling the mall manager and thanking them for the good will builder.....since we had gone to the trouble of patronizing their place during inclement weather....but guess I won't bother. John Mulders Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Here I would not be surprised to find out all three were taken and stripped.... Always carefull where you park and what car you have.. Toyota's are favorites here, I can easily park the F150 During December (x-mas) and end of February (Carnaval) the crime rate goes up her (although they have managed to grab a bunch of these clowns) and you have to be carefull. Especially at clubs etc people get their cars stolen or worse you get robbed at gunpoint. Three weeks ago I went for my weekend walk with the dogs, found a Toyota stripped from its frontend (fenders, hood, grill, lights and radiator), presumably a person that hit another car from behind, no insurance so how do you get parts... Week later, same routine, Toyota totally stripped, no wheels nothing. Both times I called in to to police, probably I am now on the suspicious list.... Last week a friend of mine had a 93 Toyota Starlet, nicely redone, stolen, no sign of it. Anyway, always be careful and hopefully that helps! John PS Keep us posted on the aftermath ! Quote
