Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Guys I'm sad to report that I crashed my plymouth on the way to work today. Its bad but neither driver was hurt. My plymouth is probably totaled. I can't get photobucket to upload pictures for some reason so I cant share at the moment. Quote
daddyo23 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Oh,man. I am sorry to hear that.Glad you're o.k. Anything I can do for ya, just give me a call. Wayne Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Know a good frame shop? I'm sure not much can be done at the moment. I suppose eventually the hunt will be on for a front clip. Quote
daddyo23 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I know a couple guys that are pretty good, but they're down in my neck of the woods. Quote
Lou Earle Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 which one was injured? 48 or 51 and what damage? U sure frame bent? these things ar pretty tough Lou Quote
1947PLEVY Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ed: I have an extra frame 47 4dr and two front fenders and hood. Need a trailer with a come along or winch to load. I live in Tennessee. Glad nobody was hurt. Take Care and God Bless.. John 47Plevy:eek: Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 the 48. The frame horn where the bumper mounts is bent about 90degrees. Rest of the frame is probably ok. Hopefully I've got the pictures uploading. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 ok for some reason I cant get photobucket to show me pics but it will upload them fine. So I hope this is them. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ouch! I so sorry that your Plymouth got wrecked, but I'm so glad that you are OK. It looks like you will need a front clip. Dennis:( Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Man, Ed, that's the pits. Looks like you tangled with the rear of a flatbed truck with that damage. Glad you're OK. I took the Plym to a local shop who has a frame machine and they straightened out my R front frame horn a bit. Don't know what they could do with the 90 degree thing. Could it be cut off and another welded in?? Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 The other vehicle was an F150. Intersection is uncontrolled. I think the F150 must have been going quite fast as I barely saw it coming and I hit behind the rear wheel. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 The P15 two door at the small salvage place has the left front fender still on it, can't remember it's actual condition......may not be too bad. Frame is still there. Could be some other usable things. I always am amazed that with all the pictures I take, I often don't get shots of certain things.....like a better one of the fender and the front end in general. Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ed; Sorry to hear about the crash but glad you were not hurt. What happened? Did it get into the radiator? Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Oh man sorry to hear about your car. Glad to hear you're OK and hope to see it back on the road again! Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ya the radiator is toast I imagine. Looks like the fan went through it from the back and the horns got pushed into the front of it. Antifreeze leaked all over but Im not sure if its from damage to the core or the fact that the top hose came off. Quote
RobertKB Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ed, your accident is every old car owner's nightmare but I am glad that you were not hurt. I sure hope you can get your car fixed as we have all enjoyed watching your progress and hard work. Things always look the worst right after something bad happens but then when you take a second look things can be better than expected. If the rest of your frame is OK (any good body shop with a machine should be able to tell) I believe you would be able to weld on a new horn. Frames can also be straightened nowadays to better than new. A new front clip is in order but are available. You will have lots of help from forum members! I am offering you a used but not bad (couple of minor dings) passenger side fender trim for free including shipping if you are interested. Don't have anything else I can offer but hope this helps. Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I think I have a spare 4 blade fan if you need it. I might also have a spare front "floating power" engine mount. If you snag the dog house from 47plevy let me know and I will drive up, bring the parts I have, and help you load up. I believe the red fenderd car is the one he has. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Thanks for the offers. Will have to wait and see what the ins comp has to say. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Very sorry to learn this happened. I'll quote a blues song; "Bad luck is the only kinda luck we'll have..." Man, I surely wish you'll get her straightened up with the help of the fine folks in here at the forum. It is not easy to get the body sheet metal for these ol'ladies, but fortunately they are pretty straight forward and rugged in everything that lies under. The hope is not lost. Let the Phoenix rise again! Cheers from up North! /Pekka Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 I was going to post the other day of a name change for my car. Leia never seemed to quite fit for me. Well for my birthday my mom gave me a little stuffed target dog and I happened to have the plymouth out that day. So he got stuck on the dash board. In case you don't know his name is spot. Well the other day it hit me that spot would be a good new name for the car. So I was going to name it spot. Now maybe Phoenix is more appropriate. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 So I was going to name it spot. Now maybe Phoenix is more appropriate. Smile through the tears? Sincerely I understand your pain... Do not be offenced.... /pekka Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 No offence taken at all. Might still stick with spot. It sure had a few more spots now! Quote
old woolie Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Glad you are okay. Cars and parts can be replaced, people can't. Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Now maybe Phoenix is more appropriate. Did you move to Heliopolis? Quote
