  1. John This is rich Hartung witht he 39 desoto. Does the drums spin freely on the front and rear axles. If yes then the  shoes should not be locking up the drums. You will have to loosen the upper  nut on the backing plate to lossen the brakes shoes.  You will also need a puller to remove the rear drums from the tapered axle.

    When putting on the new shoes you will also need the ammco brake tool 1750. I have this tool and rent this tool out to the forum members if you need the tool please let me know and Then i will let you not the specifics about the rental procedure.
